MegaUpload.com Popup Remover

Mar 30, 2008

Let me start by saying:
Thank you very much for having made this script (and your other similar pop-up removers). I am sure that it have saved many people (have for me) from some unwanted popups.

But now I have found a even better solution:

Via this site: http://userstyles.org/styles/160 , I found this site: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Dom.popup_allowed_events , which led me to:
'Yes Popup' extension:
http://www.patheticcockroach.com/mpam4/index.ph...
http://www.babelzilla.org/forum/index.php?showt... = download latest version with FF3 support = 0.9.8
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/... = http://www.popuptest.com/goodpopups.html = some background info

It freaking works! Yihaa! :D
Now you don't need to rely on that there is a userscript available for your specific site, fx. Megaupload: http://userstyles.org/styles/160

Screenshots of the extension:

Cheers

Would be nice if you would add that info to the description of your '* popup remover' scripts
Cheers

Very clever script this is...
It works for me on your page (http://henrik.nyh.se/2007/01/)
It also works for me on google.com and images.google.com

But when trying on the example site you give, it doesn't work for me: http://www.fz.se/bilder/?id=60301

How come? Why doesn't the script work on all sites?
And it should work on the example link, cause you say so in the description (on your website)?
Is it because the example site has been changed since release of the thread (on your website)?

Get TinyURL String

I think that this script is smarter: "URL Shortener" http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/22029

With that you don't even have to go over to tinyurl.com's homepage to create a tinyurl. Plus it automatically copies the creates tinyurl to clipboard. You don't have to use neither mouse or go to tinyurl.coms homepage.

TinyURL Popup Preview

Mar 14, 2008

This script does exactly the same as this script: "Tin Foil Hat old" http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/3548 . That script also uses the tinyurl preview page (source code says: http://tinyurl.com/preview.php?num= )

Isn't preview.tinyurl.com and http://tinyurl.com/preview.php?num= the same thing?

Either way I think that this script beats them both: "Interceptor 1.2" http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/23817
It also uses the preview.tinyurl.com in the source code.

The "interceptor 2.1" is the ruler of "Tin Foil Hat new": http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/11410 which does not use preview.tinyurl.com

Comment about the redirecting bebo example not working:
Yeah this is really annoying... Even though I have the RedirectRemover Extension installed, which does that, when I point at the bebo link it shows me the tinyurl adress in the statusbar, it doesn't work for me either (links redirecting tinyurl which redirects long url, instead of just tinyurl redirecting to long url)
I would like to see someone come up with an solution for this too.

URL Shortener

Very smart script...
In the source code, it says about the link prompt:

If you would like this to be automatically copied in the future, visit

'about:config'
the address bar.
Search for
'signed.applets.codebase_principal_support'
and set its value to
true

Any idea of why 'signed.applets.codebase_principal_support' isn't enablet/set to true by default by Firefox? Is it dangerous? does all extensions and stuff become able to do things behind your back? or why isn't it default?

Intercepter 1.2

Smart script...

Just have one complaint: When having installed the script, the name it has been given in greasemonkey manager is "23817" instead of "Interceptor 1.2" :S?

Add to my previous post:
Arh. Interesting the Intercepter 1.2 script doesn't change the tinyurl to the whole original long url, but only the domain (in my previous post = hugeurl.com)
This script (Tin Foil Hat new) doesn't do that, it show the whole original long url, cluttering up the whole page if the redirecting link really is a long link, which tinyurls obvious often is...

Now I really understand why the "Tin Foil Hat new" and "Intercepter 1.2" source codes are not the same. There really is a big difference about these two scripts.

Now I have to say that I almost have changed my mind about "Tin Foil Hat old" being better than "Interceptor 1.2" considering that "Interceptor 1.2" still does keep the link short even though it is not a tinyurl link anymore.

This script: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/23817 does the same thing, but shows an icon which indicates that the link have been modified = better i think... image which explains the difference: http://tinyurl.com/yskjml

Personally I think that this "Tin Foil Hat old": http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/3548 is better than both of them because it doesn't change the tinyurl link to the originally long one, but shows an toolbox tip instead.
You know... Tinyurls have been invented for a reason: shortening the long urls so the pages and posts becomes less chaotic to read (= smaller/shorter).
fx. post with links above 2 rows long is very annoying.

Take this as an example: very stupid if you have "Tin Foil Hat new" or "Intercepter 1.2" enabled: http://tinyurl.com/yw4d3q

The "displays all comments in the video page" is disabled by default. You have to use the script configuration dialog to enable it ("Tools" / "Greasemonkey" / "User Script Commands" / "YousableTubeFix configuration")

Arh I see, disabled by default = Now I have got the "displays all comments in the video page" working. Though its not all. Fx. it doesn't load all 65.000 comments for this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69Grnh7Qin8&feat...
but reading the source code I see that the number is changed from 10 to 500. (Hey is it possible to have another custom amount, 50 fx.?)
Thank you very much for answering.

To other users (auther you can of course use the following image too in your description if you want): I was wondering what the remove "Also watching now section" did... Didn't seem to change anything... I was just about to post a question about if it was the "videos being wathed right now" on the front page that it meant, because if yes, it didn't work. But did a Google search first and you can see what the function is on this image: http://tinyurl.com/ywf28l = funny I have never experienced that ever on youtube...

Overall a very smart script which lets you select/deselect individual options rather than all of them. Very smart. The functions of this script has convinced me that the my Youtube-dream-layout-script is possible to write, but I am to busy at the moment so wont ask you about how to write it just now.

I would be glad though if you looked at the question I raise here: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/3548 or here: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/13333
If you could make up a solution for that.

First: To Simon: It doesn't only show it when hovering over? this script transforms the tinyurl to the real url when loading page!

Next:
This is a very cool script and it works. So far I have had to use an redirect checker, fx.: http://www.webconfs.com/redirect-check.php when I was suspicious about tinyurls.

Just to bad that the script doesn't have any Linkification support: The tinyurl text link which Linkification converts into clickable links, doesn't show a tooltip when hovering over them :(, so for them I still has to use http://www.webconfs.com/redirect-check.php
Would be nice if someone could make a redirect checker which supported checking for all redirecting links via: http://www.webconfs.com/redirect-check.php

Arh, okay, sorry I see. I also have:
"youtube Search View Count" = http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/23572
"Youtube Alternate Video Player" =
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/13955
"YouTube comments next to videos" =
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/7174
"YouTube "Lights Out"" =
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/11058

Tried to disable 'em all and now everything in your script works, except the "displays all comments in the video page" function

= Sorry, my bad.

YouTube Comments Next to Video

Mar 14, 2008

Arh, have found the differences (comparing the 2 source codes):
You have changed the "aboutVidDiv" to "channelVidsDiv" compared with http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/7174 , which is correctly needed if the script should work, but you have forgot to add:

# var div = document.getElementById('actionsAndStatsDiv');
# var text = div.textContent.match(/Comments:\s+\d+/);
# if( text && text[0] && text[0].match(/\d+/)[0]=='0' ){
# return;
# }

I say use http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/7174 and just change the aboutVidDiv" to "channelVidsDiv" to make it work. It is easier than to make this script work

I can backup Doug Adams comment, this scipt doesn't do any.
Use this instead: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/7174
But this is the script you say that you have fixed? Can't see out of your description what should be changed...
The difference is: Your script doesn't work :S

It sounds like some nice features, but the script doesn't do anything of the mentioned stuff to me.
All it does to me is to move the video description away from the very right beside the video, to the right beside the comments, under the video. <-->
