I have put the old Greasemonkey v1.07 script back on this page due to a few requests.
Remember that a new stand-alone Firefox add-on has been released (currently v1.09.03) and can be found at http://blankcanvasweb.com/pages/detail/id_9/n_g...

There's a new Firefox add-on that will handle multiple HTML Gmail signatures:

Ok, v1.08 is officially released, but it's an extension for Firefox (add-on), no longer a Greasemonkey script. Much easier to install, configure, and update.

For everyone that's been waiting for this script to stabilize, I'm almost done with version 1.08, which will pretty much blow all previous versions out of the water in terms of ease of use, stability, and functionality. Version 1.08 will be released as a Firefox extension rather than a Greasemonkey script. This means that it will be much easier to install, configure, and keep up to date.

Stay tuned to http://www.blankcanvasweb.com for updates.

New Features in 1.08:

- New format in easy to install Firefox add-on
- Much more stable than old versions
- 100% Firefox 3 compatible
- More options and an easy to use configuration interface
- Real-time preview lets you see what your signature will look like before saving it
- Re-designed from the ground up for better stability and scalability
- Lots of other new features

Hey All, now that FF3 has been released and is no longer in beta, I'll find some time to get the script up and working with it. I'm sorry for all of you that can't use it right now, but I'll have it up as soon as real life allows.

If all goes as planned, the next release of this script will be as a Firefox 3 extension. It's my first stab at FF extension writing though, and I am heading to France for a week for business in a few days, so please be patient with me.

@Robert Andrews

The trouble you are having with Google Apps is a known issue. Have you read through the known bugs?

@kellerza

Thank you for the details! I'll look into this more when we get close to having a final FF3 release.

The script still works just fine on the latest final (non-beta) release of Firefox (2.0.0.13). I will not be working on a fully supported Firefox 3 script until its official release this Falyl (if my understanding is correct). I simply do not have the time to rework the script for every release of the beta. My understanding is that it wasn't working through FF3 beta 3, but I have tested the script on FF3 beta 4 and FF3 beta 5, and they BOTH work for me. As soon as Mozilla gets close to a final FF3 release, I will check for final compatibility.

If the script "suddenly stops working" on any version of Firefox 2, FF3 beta 4 or FF3 beta 5 for which it was previously working, it is probably due to a conflict with another script or add-on that you have added. Try uninstalling everything but this script, checking if it works, then re-installing your other scripts and add-ons which checking for compatibility.

Please see known bugs (http://blankcanvasweb.com/gmail2_html_sigs/bugs/) before posting an "it's now working" comment.

Keep in mind that this is a free script that I work on in my free time. I know that it's not perfect, but while I am dedicated to making this work on as many versions of Firefox and Gmail as possible (I use it myself all the time), I do need to put supporting my family first.

Sounds like it's actually still not working for google apps, but there is a good workaround. Check the known bugs page.

Good news!

The script works on Firefox 3 Beta 4, so it looks like I won't have to do a rewrite after all! (Thanks to Brian for letting me know).

Also, for all you Google Apps users out there, Brian made the following comment:

"I copied your script and simply removed the code which deals with not having a gmail.com address."

I'll try to get around to making these changes in the official release soon.

Just a quick note to let everyone know that the project is still alive. I've been swamped with my full time job and side-contracts, which is very good, but means development on this script has been a little slow.

The next version will fix the single account bug.

I am aware of the Firefox 3 beta bug, which is due to the handling of document nodes from external sources. I can make it work, but it will take a while to rewrite the whole thing, and given that this Fall is the anticipated FF3 release date (from what I understand) I'm not too worried about it.

Try the following for google apps:

1. language must be English
2. turn ON "Next generation (US English only) New control panel features will be available to you a little earlier than with the current version."
3. turn ON "Turn on new application features to my domain before they are rolled out to all Google Apps customers."
4. wait one or two days until the new features appear

HatastiX,

This script is not affected as far as I can tell, but I will keep an eye on it. It may be that my gmail account has not yet gotten the updates (not sure how google rolls them out.)

If you have trouble saving your signatures, follow these steps when creating signatures:

1 - Create signature and click save signature

2 - Click on "Inbox" (not sure if this is really necessary)

3 - Close and restart Firefox

I'll see what I can do about fixing this in future versions.

The "default account" is actually only needed if you only have one account. I'll make a change so that it's obvious.

I just posted version 1.04 which includes a lot of new features:

- No more need for script editing
- Added easy setup interface for creation and editing of signatures
- Added support for only one address
- Added left bar box for script setup and easy access to script home page
- Fixed single account compose infinite loop bug

I hope this version will be a lot more user-friendly than the last one. Most of the bugs should be worked out, but please let me know if you run into any odd behavior:

@cell

Glad to see you were able to find the problem and were able to hack your version! I came to the same conclusion after someone else said something about only having one email address. It’s fixed in version 1.04 (or it should be anyway).

I had this script stop working on me for around 10 minutes once, but it came back up. Looks like google's implementing new things. I'll keep an eye on it, and keep me posted.

Google would change code because they need to keep improving their products, and you don't do that by leaving your code around for years. The other day I had to rework a site a built a year ago and it made me cry. Three times the code I use today. Made sense to rip it all out and optimize it (less downloading time, etc).

Keep up the good work Arend!

Still works fine for me. Did you check the known bugs?

On another note, my Folderd4Gmail and Remember the Milk stopped working, so it looks like google is modifying their gmail code. I'll be putting out a new version soon(ish) so I'll look into it.

Yes, it does look for the drop-down menu. I was wondering if there was one if you only have one menu. I'll write a fix into a new version down the road to handle gmail accounts that don't have any additional email addresses set up.
