@Dimitri : I tried running the script AutoBCC on Firefox2. It seemed to work ok except for throwing too many alert boxes at me ;).
Could you please try the script at http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/25195 ? If that works fine for you, it could save us a lot of trouble :). If somehow, that script doesnt work well for you then I will definitely work with you to fix the issue. Thank you for your patience.

@Jr. : "The particular gadget we were discussing is rather hard to set up." What I was implying was that setting up that gadget requires you to write _code_. This would obviously be a nuisance to a person not used to writing code. I shouldve been more elaborate. I apologize for the misunderstanding.
I tried using the script and it didnt work for me either. However, gmail did not refresh continuously. This seems to be an issue of incompatibility of the gmailAPI with firefox3. You may verify this by trying out the script at http://gmail-greasemonkey.googlecode.com/svn/tr... (provided by Google.) for me, that script doesnt work either. I have put this issue under the Known Issues section.
Also, could you please verify that the script at http://gmail-greasemonkey.googlecode.com/svn/tr... doesnt work for you? Im not sure why nobody else has raised this issue though; just maybe im doing something wrong. Thanks.

@Jr: Dont worry, youre not really expected to get things to work if youre not used to doing this stuff. The particular gadget we were discussing is rather hard to set up. I strongly recommend that you choose another one. You can try them out by adding them to your Google IG page.
As regarding the refreshing issue, thats quite odd. I suggest that you log in to your calendar on a separate window. Also log in to any other addons that you have integrated on its main page. Then refresh gmail. Please feel free to get back to me if this doesnt work.

@JoeMik: Unfortunately, the gmailAPI provided by google still does weird things on FF3. I will update the script description to answer this.

@danny1205: :) yay. Im glad you liked it.

@Brian W: The RTM extension itself ought to work great as max6166 suggested. Are you running Firefox3 - this script does not currently work on Firefox3.

@Dimitri: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/25195 . :)
If youre particular about using your old script, please provide more details about what exactly went wrong.

@Jr. : As for the iGoogle calendar, please follow these instructions:
1. Go to http://gmodules.com/ig/creator?synd=open&url=ht...
2. Under "Calendar 1" enter the private HTML url found under the calendar settings.
3. Click on "Get the Code"
4. in the textbox you need to select and copy everything thats between the quotes (") for src. this is the url
i.e. src="[select this bit]"
5. copy the cript source of Google Docs + Gmail Addons into a new script
6. change the value for url to the url you just copied. indicatorLabel to "Calendar" and id to "cal" and name to "Google Calendar"
7. save the script and restart gmail to see the changes.

if you need more help please email me at my gmail id exstodot
note that if you post your private url or embed url here, anybody who uses the link will be able to view all events on your calendar

for your other query look at http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/28146

@max6166: ive updated that. thank you for taking the time to make this better :)

hi Jr.
im unsure of what you would like the resultant screen to look like. do you mean something like the image here - http://email.about.com/library/ec/pi/blpi_outlo... ?
if so, click on "Prefs" on the top left, and under Google Calendar, change position to "right". click save and refresh gmail to see the changes.
for a perfect outlook thing, you may also want to put something like http://www.google.com/ig/directory?q=calendar&u... o the right. if so, contact me and ill help you out.

@ Y2K : Thank you for your addition. I have added it to the list :)

@ max6166 : :) you know, now that ive checked it out, i wonder why nobody has told me about this before, or why i didnt see it myself. thanks a lot - that was a much needed modification. ive fixed it.

general question: im using opera now, and i love every bit of it. its an example of something that "just works". has anybody else tried using it out there? pity the latest version of gmail doesnt work on it though.

@ Jaziel:
hi. first click on the install link on the top right. a pop up should appear offering to install the script. so then click install.
now, confirm that the script is enabled.
sign in to gmail and right click on the little pink monkey icon in the status bar
or alternatively, tools->greasemonkey
make sure there is a tick mark against "Gmail Addons"
if not, click on "Gmail Addons" to add a tick mark next to it.
If this still does not work, or you have other queries, please dont hesitate to leave a comment again. I will help you sort it out.

@ Kaveh: What i suggest is signing in to Google Notebook once.
i.e when your girlfriend logs in, and the page redirects, log in to Google Notebook with her id and password. Once she does this, she will automatically be logged in on subsequent visits to that page - no redirection.
There is no nice way to turn off redirect. I personally feel that it is not a highly critical feature to worry about and would unnecessarily complicate your regular usage. If you disagree, feel free to discuss this. You are correct in noting that you must either have an account, or disable that particular script - ONLY gmail addons + google notebook.
signing in once solves the problem forever though :)

@searchforsunrise: yeah sorry, my fault. its under prefs. just enter a single character into the "shortcut key" field. numbers work good especially if youre using the gmail keyboard shortcuts too.

@max6166: i can work on that. there are a few things to work out before that. should only the addons inside the main page (below the regular email) be hidden or should all of them be hidden.
Also, if you hide an addon on view change, should it remember whether it was open or closed when you go back to your inbox. I know this is technically my job ;) but i thought id ask for suggestions anyway.

@jive: yep :)

@RomanK: ive added your addon to the list.

@Online Apps: unfortunately, i still have the same issue. it works the first time or on clearing cache, but then stops working on subsequent reloads. google fix it !

@k0shyX: yep. still the same gmailAPI issue.

UPDATE: The author of the style Gmail Redesigned has very helpfully agreed to help resolve the current issue (as of 15 May, 08) between this script and the style. The next version of the Gmail Redesigned style should resolve all issues.
Thank you Globex Designs for the prompt reply. :)

@max6166: hi, im sorry i couldnt reply to your query in time as i was on vacation. i see its been solved though :)

i think that the iframe will end up longer or shorter than the page depending on how many calendars you have. the main calendar should automatically resize to fit in the iframe though.

@searchforsunrise: thanks for replying to max6166 :)

@jive, bogus83: i looked into the issue, it seems to be something in the style. thought i cannot change this myself, you can.

you can edit the style (right click on the stylish toolbar icon, right click on the style's name)
now select the entire thing and move it into your favourite text editor.
now find .Lpuind{height:100%!important;width:100%!important;} replace it with nothing. essentially remove that bit.
copy the new code back into the stylish window and save it.
refresh gmail to see the changes.

i have contacted the maker of the style to ask him to remove the "offending" bit ;). (it doesnt seem to make a difference whether its there or not)

@sonychen: im working on it. :) (would numbers as shortcuts do?)

Jarett, the issue that MikeB reported seems to be an issue with the gmailAPI and firefox 3 beta 5. Any script that uses the API will work only when certain files are not cached. Even the sample script by google doesnt work. If you clear your cache and reload, the script will work. But if you reload a second time, it wont.
A few people who installed my script gmail addons have reported the same issue as well. I hope this saves you some effort trying to figure out what went wrong. If you do find out anything more about this, a workaround or anything, I would appreciate it if you could leave a comment at my script with the details. Thanks.

@flakess:
The gmail API is the same, whatever browser you view it from. This means that if, as you suggested, the API has in some way changed to make the tutorial outdated, scripts should consistenly break accross all browsers.
This leads me to believe that that the GmailAPI is incompatible with firefox 3 beta 5. I hope this clarifies what i think about the issue. If you have any other take on the issue, please continue to leave your comment - id love to discuss this further. Thanks.

Google Docs + Gmail Addons

hi nka
thanks a lot for coming back here and reporting this. i really appreciate it.
the problem is that i can't get this error to occour. ive tried it on firefox 2 (2.0.0.14) and the latest version of greasemonkey.
this seems to work fine for me.
could you please tell me what version of firefox you are using? (note that there are currently some problems with firefox3beta5 that affect all scripts using the gmailAPI).
ive tried to remake the gadget link.
please try to replace the existing source of this particular script with the following.

// ==UserScript==
// @name           Google Docs + Gmail Addons

	indicatorLabel: 'Documents',
	position: 'right'
});

maybe this will work (?)
again, thanks.

hi flakess
thanks for reporting this. i notice that you had reported this issue once before. to reiterate my reply, any script that uses the gmailAPI will not work with ff3b5. you an verify this by installing this script: http://code.google.com/p/gmail-greasemonkey/wik... which happens to be provided by Google. The same problem occours. This will have to be fixed by Google for any script that uses the GmailAPI to work correctly.

@Shaun Raymond: Ive updated the description of that script to be more comprehensive. I hope that helps you.
If you would like more help please leave a comment or contact me at exstodot@gmail.com

@nka: This seems to be something of a one-time issue with the Google Gadget. As you can see, all that is Google's code mess ;). If this issue does not occour repeatedly when you refresh the page, I suggest that you dont worry about it. If it does, please let me know. Thanks.

@all: Please leave your comments at their respective scripts. I assure you, I do check the comments of all of them. The discussion might be of use to other users of the scripts. Thank you.

@nka: The code you've written is absolutely perfect. The problem here is that Google Docs checks to see whether its being loaded as part of another page. If so, it redirects the browser.
As an alternative, I would suggest 'Google Docs + Gmail Addons'. Though it has relatively limited functionality, it uses a Google Gadget that is being continuously improved by Google. Please do tell me if you find it satisfactory.

@all: The latest version - Gmail Addons 3.6 is out. Please update the script by clicking on the 'Install this Script' button on the top right.

@ tbw, rkmase : thanks for reporting the problem. i verified the issue on firefox3beta4. the problem occours less frequently on firefox3 than on firefox2 but it does still occour especially when you switch between multiple views repeatedly. consequently, i have updated the script and uploaded the changed version. i think this solves the problem.. i havent updated the script changelog as im not perfectly sure of the issue being solved. please do download it again and check it out. please report anything that goes wrong.

@ rkmase : thank you for reporting that. that behaviour was actually correct for the script. on the latest update, you should see the word appearing 3 times (or more if you have more addons installed) on loading gmail, and an additional 1 time for every view change. (you might have more instances of the word poll if you have a slow connection)

@ blake johnson : i have verified that the script does work with the latest version of the rtm extension. please download the latest version of both this script and the rtm extension.

Are there no plans to ever make this script work with it?

You are probably referring to the issues as posted on the rtm forums or in these comments. the issue has already been corrected.

@ all : im really pressed for time as my exams are going on right now (they will continue until the end of april). consequently, i cannot check these comments as frequently as i wish to. please do keep reporting any issues and ideas that you may have. i will definitely look through them when i have any spare time. please make sure you have the latest version installed before reporting a problem. thank you.

@ jim murphy : thanks a lot for your information. i have verified the same and now i dont worry about what to do ;) . the js performance of firefox has generally been quite bad. firfox 3 looks good that way :).

@ jonesclp : are the other links displayed or is it only with the prefs link that you have a problem?
as for the user script commands, it seems to be an issue with the latest version of greasemonkey which changes a few things for security reasons. i will work on finding a workaround. please make sure you have the latest version installed (ver 3.5 as of this post)

hi

@ rkmase, krazyglu52 : thank you for reporting this. a few people were having this problem before, but they claim that it has been fixed in the current version (3.5 as of this post). please make sure you have the latest version installed.

@ user916931 : thank you for that info - something on *my side* :p .

@ rkmase, krazyglu52 :

based on user916131's information, these problems occour even without Gmail Addons. could you please try disabling gmail addons and then refreshing the page? ive noticed that when gmail is loading, the browser slows down in general (i.e. difficult to switch tabs, do anything else).

ive particularly tried to avoid these problems by changing the way the Gmail Addons are loaded in the latest version. in the latest version, the script only loads the addons *after* the gmail page is fully loaded. in fact you might see the whole screen blink or flash when the page is loaded and modified by my script.

another thing that might help is if you reported the number of times the word 'poll' turns up in the error console.
1. Tools -> Error Console
2. Open gmail
3. Look under the messages tab for the word 'poll'
You should ideally have no more than two instances of the word for every addon. (one is usually the norm but two is okay on slow connections or on the first time load of gmail)

Ive love to get this to work for you. if the issue is the script itself (versus the gmail page itself) then i will have to see exactly whats wrong. please report the above. based on that information i can decide what to do. quite honestly, i personally think that this is the nicest way for this script to work but perhaps i could ask the people at the forums for an alternate way.

Hi

Currently, you cannot load the Google Docs page into gmail. This is because Google Docs checks to see whether it is loaded within a frame and if so, redirects to the Google Docs site.

However, i have currently made a Gmail Addons script to integrate Google Docs. It uses the Google Docs Google Gadget.

There have been a few issues about this gadget http://google.com/ig/directory?q=google+docs&ur... . Although the integration is quite basic and there are various limitations, i hope that somebody will find it useful.
