Topic: Userscripts.org discussion / Why can't you stop all this scrap all nonsense? Hey. We're currently working on dealing with the recent flood of "scrap" scripts, as well as spam scripts and users in general. We want to be able to help filter spam, but are considering the middleground between loosy-goosy email filtering (things can be mis-flagged, no big deal) and verification of every script (obviously not possible). Thanks! They're a huge pain in our sides as well. |

Topic: The Banana Bar / Oooohhh oooh! I hope everyone's loving the amazing work Jesse and Hendrix have been doing on the site lately! Not much in UI, but some AMAZING stuff behind the scenes. Not all fame and glory either ... such as cleaning up db redundancies and unicode issues. Ugh! I've had no time to hack on us.o lately due to Twitter.com being all crazy and the like. But I'm still around in the trees from time to time. Hopefully free time will rear its head soon! Britt |

Topic: Userscripts.org discussion / Gravicon I'm having this same problem ... we should contact the gravatar folks as they just released their new system and are still working out the quirks. |

Topic: Userscripts.org discussion / HTML Align Lior, Absolutely! Unfortunately (and fortunately!), when we revamped the site security was the primary concern. We are now working on all the little bits. We're really value your thoughts about this on the wiki page for this issue here: http://userscripts.devjavu.com/projects/userscr... |

Topic: Userscripts.org discussion / Getting a script removed We're trying to keep the number of forums to a minimum, so another subforum may be overkill for issues like this. Definitely though, there needs to be some form of making requests for script removal and the like. Thinking about possible usecases, I'd say somewhere within your settings you should be able to file issues that admins could address, such as dup scripts. |

Topic: Userscripts.org discussion / The "Your Scripts" list Jesse spent some time updating the wiki today with much more info regarding the progression of site development (thanks Jesse!). I've begun the framework for discussing site content on the wiki here: http://userscripts.devjavu.com/projects/userscr... Please add your opinions on your scripts here:

Topic: Userscripts.org discussion / HTML Align Hey Lior, Re: Styling. We're going to be moving towards a medium ground between the extended descriptions we had in us.o1 and the strictness of us.o2. So what does this mean? You should be able to preform basic manipulation of your custom description ... centering, bolding, including images and other media (-> jesse's hint about possible media hosting). One of our primary concerns when moving to v2 was sealing XSS holes as much as possible, hence the very strict filters in place right now. Re: Script versioning/changelog ... yes it's in the works :) |

Topic: Userscripts.org discussion / The "Your Scripts" list This has changed with a past GM release though, as clicking on a script brings up the install dialog, not the source itself. There was a request recently for a "view source" link on a script's page, which would refer to number of views. |

Topic: Script development / How do I move my scripts?? Right now you you just have to re-install them manually. One of the future features of userscripts.org is script 'bundles' or 'favorites'. Bundles have been a talked about feature for gm, so you will be able to log in to any computer and install all your favorites in one click! |

Topic: Userscripts.org discussion / Tags in Userscripts.org Topographical organization is proven to be effective, and is what we originally decided to use for script organization in Userscripts.org.Of course, our tags are a bit of a mess, but how do we fix this problem. Here are some thoughts. 1. Disallow '.' within new tags. Strip current tags of . and the (most likely) com/net/org/etc aftewards. This fixes fuzzy categories like gmail.com vs gmail 2. Implement a system where when one tags something, we do a proximity check and if it is close to another word, we say: "The tag you've entered strongly resembles a tag already in the system. If they convey the same meaning, please use the one already established." and allow them to click a link to select that tag. 3. Allow someone to flag a tag as "bad or duplicate." This can then be reviewed by administrators and possibly corrected if needed. 3. Form a team of "administrators" who when browsing userscripts can clean up tags in order to keep things as easy to navigate as possible. Just a few things I've been thinking about ... what does everyone think about this? We'll be re-implementing the tagging system very soon. |

Topic: Userscripts.org discussion / Welcome to the new site! Tagging is staying in. We basically wanted to get a release out so people could begin updating and uploading their scripts, and then we're addressing moving over a few bits of lacking core functionality, as well as structuring the site as we go. In short: We will be doing lots of incremental updates to the site in the near and distant future. |

Topic: Userscripts.org discussion / Welcome to the new site! Thanks for everyone who was involved. It was a late night and a pretty much rewrite of the entire codebase, so we're pretty excited about it! As Jesse mentioned, file tickets and post requests for new features here! |
