Can't you block the IP or would they then start using proxies?

I don't want to sound like I'm demanding anything, but why hasn't any anti-spam measure been implemented yet? If what's lacking is time, we can help. If it's a decision, we can discuss. It's ridiculous to depend on a human (or unicorn) to manually delete spam and spammers, specially on a site filled with programmers (and spammers).
In my country we have a proverb that says something like "in the blacksmith's house, wooden knife"
