I haven't started making the Player 2 skin for the HTML5 player yet - I'd like to sort out some of the Player 3 skin issues first (eg it has a black line at the bottom, some of the positioning is a bit off, etc).
I was also looking into scrapping Youtube's HTML5 control bar and using the native HTML5 bar provided by the browser, but that would involve different code for Firefox and Chrome and would be too messy, so I abandoned that.

I will get to it, but not quite yet.

You could use a flash decompiler and fix the older ones. :)

ahh, glad to see this topic coming to life again, takato, you should find somebody that can use this "flash decompiler" and bring the older players back to life!

It is probably illegal under the DMCA (USA law) to decompile Youtube's video player. Not an issue for me as I don't live in the USA but I'd rather not do it anyway. If someone else did it and created some fixed classic players, I'd be happy to include them, but I'm not going to go looking for someone.

If anyone here does have flash skills and makes a custom player (which either looks like a classic Youtube player or uses a custom design) feel free to send me a link.

Hi, hmm DMCA is a complicated thing :) But I am also not from the US so I will give it a try :) Just installing the software I need for that. I will keep you updated :)

Update: I need all the players, so can someone please upload the old players for me (on mediafire or so)? Because it seems the players are gone from the topic starters page. Thank you I am appreciating it! :)

isn't following robots.txt optional?
can't you just choose to ignore it by changing the coding?
at least i heard that somewhere...
i heard some website i think Google was ending support for robots.txt...

and Fiddler2 is always an option...

there is no youtube.com/robots.txt
or s.ytimg.com/robots.txt
or ytimg.com/robots.txt...
