Shame, we are victims of the sidebar on the chat, and they do not listen to us, this is really sad.

@sarlyna I agree, everyone seems to hate it so why don't they change it back?

Same here too, I'm using it on Chrome. Maybe it has something to do with the news that @toxica shared; they should be blocking scripts also because of the "attack".
Either way, the icons bar is working in every chat window. Looks like the failure is affecting only to the sidebar.

Pretty sure it's something to do with the changes FB made yesterday regarding the spam attack. I got this one: http://www.facebook.com/HowToDisableTickerSidebar which is working for me on Chrome, they made an update today. :)
