Magic666,
You might be running into the same bug that held up release for a number of days (while I beat my head into the wall--completely perplexed by the problem.) Maybe, try this and keep your fingers crossed. I just learned that our friend here fixed his own profile problem by uninstalling the Greasemonkey plugin, then reinstalling it. That's a pretty easy solution. If it doesn't work, then try plan B (below.) I believe (by experience on a number of systems) that when old profiles (started @say FFv2 / 3 and then continuously updated may suffer issues with new versions of Greasemonkey. Not sure, but I can say it's certainly profile related because each time I created a clean profile, not only was the browser faster but the script worked 100% of the time on every platform. (It may also be older plugins or settings which were carried forward during an update or two.) Therefore, I am doing this on all OS's for Firefox/icecat/moz-etc. They're faster and you still have your passwords and settings if needed. ~ ~ ~ We will be creating a new profile, reinstalling plugins and testing functionality. 1) Read this page
2) Go to a console or Run-command and type "firefox -P"
3) Using the guide above, open the old profile location and copy just the files you really need like * key3.db , signons.sqlite , permissions.sqlite , search.sqlite , \searchplugins\ folder , persdict.dat , cert8.db * - basically take as little as possible and setup a fresh new profile (trust me, it's better all around.) It's ok to overwrite the new profile files with your backups, as if you mess-up you can simply make a new profile again and copy them once more. Once you're done copying, you can start Firefox. (Maybe go to a site you've saved a password for and verify that it all works as expected.) 4) Probably the first thing to do is re-sync your bookmarks (if you do that kind of thing - it makes opening shortcuts faster with the built-in indexing.) Then start adding your most basic Firefox Addons - here I would recommend getting the Beta Greasemonkey @ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/#beta-channel, then just the things you need (first, later you can add the fun stuff.) Once you have Gm, then come to this site and get 'google Enhanced BLACK' and immediately test it on Google.com. The point being that we need to setup a "BASELINE" / basic profile with just Gm & gEB to see if it works, then when it does, install the other fun stuff as needed. I had weird issues on different OS's and versions of FF, and this helped across the board. I hope it helps you too. ~ ~ ~ I think once you get a new profile setup, your problem will go away. If not, please let me know and we will dig deeper ;) I am here to help
If you can do this (^above) and it works, or not - and then let me know, I can really help you in not only the short term but also in even better compatibility going forward ;) |
