FVWM is not working!
![]() ![]() |
Box in lower corner stays yellow and says working, posts color code...that's it. It doesn't grab anything at all. Please, lost without it! |
![]() |
Yes it's broken and I am working on it. I am no longer allowed to use iframes to open requests like I've been able to in the past, and it's been difficult getting full functionality back without them. |

CaptainObvious wrote:Your spelling really SUCKS BIG TIME but at least I know why you call yourself Captain Obvious! Also very few people use :facepalm. Don't give your real identity away! HI JOE! I'm harassing the users at DDM's forum. Are you surprised? I didn't think so... The users there are not as disciplined as they learned to be here so all I ask it that you fix this before I pull the rest of my hair out. I have about 3 hairs left so it's a matter of hair life and hair death. Otherwise I hope that all is well with you and my hair is in your hands! :0) |

Say BYE BYE to your last 3 hairs ;) |

I guess my only viable option at this point is to have the script use ajax. It's going to be an overhaul, but I'll see if I can get it to work. |

great that you got my PM |

I've noticed that bots that have grabbers are principally written in php. Have also noticed they don't need to update them all that often despite new items constantly appearing. Then again their grabbers are not as option and feature laden as FVWM is. The question then is this: Is there a language and/or a way for you to code FVWM to figure most of the stuff out on its own AND that the parts we would need to tweak would be rather simple to do? Simple as in what we average users would call simple. Hopefully you also know I've always been a fan and VERY appreciative of you and your work. |

thank you for working on it, joe! we all wish you the best of luck! |

I'm hoping to get some donations as I'm out of work atm, but I'm not expecting anything; it's always optional. niemamlogina wrote:Sure thing. I'll take a look at that FGS and see what I can adapt/learn. I'm not familiar with jQuery though so it will be tough. |

I've been using this script for a very long time and I appreciate the work that Joe and many others have contributed in keeping this script alive. With that being said, those that are demanding, complaining and whining really need to understand that everyone involved in writing these scripts is doing so for our benefit. They aren't being paid for their work ( which does require technical skills that obviously everyone does not possess ) nor are asking for payment for a script that could easily be monetized. Support, gratitude and donations to the author, should not even have to be mentioned or implied, if you use this script, you should feel an obligation to do all three. Joe, IMO, you should create a sticky as you progress on working on the script with updates, requests for any help you need from people ( ex: I'd happily assist in tweaking / testing / writing codes if I knew where you were at / what needed to be done ). Also IMO, you should then include in the same post: a Paypal donation link, Amazon wishlist, and any other ways the users of your script can show their appreciation.( For example, say someone had a $10 iTunes gift card they weren't going to use, if it was known that you had an iPod, that person could email you the redemption code. ) $10 is not much, it's simply just the point that you are providing a FREE service and it's perfectly appropriate to suggest support in the way of donations or likewise. PS: I don't troll message boards, so for those that disagree with this post and feel the need to reply negatively, my reply to you my friend, is: "Suck it." :) Shameless plug: If you are playing CoD MW3 on the box, feel free to add me if you are 18+ ( KOSxX ) |

GirlGamer wrote:I appreciate your post. I usually don't need help, but there is one strange problem right now that I can't fix. I'm using ajax to load a grab link (i.e., Get a Bushel). The grab page re-directs to another page, so with the ajax I need to grab the url of the re-direct in the meta refresh tag. I do this with regex easily, and it worked the first time I wrote the code, but now the meta refresh tag is this: <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0; URL=/[object%20MozURLProperty]?_fb_noscript=1" />and I don't know why it says the object MozURLProperty. Why is there an object where the url of the re-direct used to be? And trust me, the url was there before because I started writing the regex to grab said url, then it changes to that. GirlGamer wrote:I have it for the PC. Are you by any chance GirlGoneGamer, or do you just have a similar username? |

I Googled object MozURLProperty and got a bunch of hits. Don't know what they are saying cuz I'm a dummy but I did get hits! ;-)) |

Hope you can get this figured out Joe. I loved your program when it was working, and nothing else I have tried works as well. Is there any chance you could post a way of sending donations so I don't have to look through thousands of posts to find it. |

FarmerBeth wrote:Thanks for the kind words. The donate button is on the script homepage as always, at the bottom :) Pain N. Ass wrote:Me too. I didn't find any helpful ones, though. I have no idea why it says that where a url should be. I don't know what to do if I can't fix it. Maybe I have to try jQuery. BTW guys, my website got taken down because I didn't have the $300 to renew it, so I'm trying to find a nice free web host. |

Thanks for your hard work. You've been an inspiration to us. I sent a donation and was wondering if you'd be interested in a programming gig that leverages your skills here. |

"?_fb_noscript=1", i think, is the symptom that needs attention. what little i can gather from google on it (no really good search results) is that fb is redirecting you through their no-scripts filter for some reason. mozurlproperty (mozilla firefox url property?) is probably just a marker for where you're trying to direct the page.

Joe,
Starting with this post in one of DDM's forums, this and another user are successfully using older versions (3.6.3) of FF with your last working script. Thought maybe knowing that might prove helpful.

Pain N. Ass wrote:It probably works because they didn't add the x-frame block option until a later version. Good to know though, thanks. At least people can use FF3 if they want FVWM to work until I get it fixed. chaodoze wrote:LIke what? |

i am learning and catching up
some time ago the browsers added the ability for web designers to add code that would not allow loading in frames. ff 3.7 for example. z finally got with the times and is now utilizing that feature. would it not be possible to alter that feature in your own newest version browser? making that bit of code they put in irrelevant |

Well after totally getting frustrated with this - I did what they are doing under the HELP ME discussions and installed old Firefox 3.6.3 and went back to Joe's original FV WallManager and I collected more than I have collected in a month. Now I am here to see if someone can get Joe or DDM to update Joe's old WM with the new stuff and we would be in great shape until Joe is able to get it working with the new updated browsers. Thanks to everyone that works so hard on all of this~! The FVWM version I am using is 1.2.235 (Joe's original with DDM's updates) |
