Broken Again
![]() ![]() |
Google made another update it looks like and the script no longer hides the sidebar. I'm using Win 7 with Firefox 4.01 and it won't hide the sidebar. I'm also using Super iGoogle 0.99.4. Thanks. |

I noticed the same thing this morning, then updated to 0.99.5 and...it works! Hopefully this helps if you haven't already done the same as I did. |

Yep, thanks guys. I've sorted it all in version 0.99.5, so update! It's a bit sketchy, but I'll try to get a much nicer update out this weekend. |

stinkinrich88, thanks man. Your update was super fast yesterday. Just as a note (for when you get a nicer update out this weekend) I've noticed that sometimes when I arrive at iGoogle when I first open my browser it doesn't hide the sidebar and I have to restart to have it do that. I'm not sure if it's just my installation or something in the script cause it's just happening on my mobile installation of firefox at work. My regularly installed version seems to be working fine at home. |

So what I've found is that when I open my browser (Firefox 4.0.1) the first time and it's on iGoogle I cannot hide the sidebar (even if I hit Alt+2). Then if I navigate away and back it is still showing, but if I hit Alt+2 then it hides. |

May 19: Broken yet again. Now the content of the igoogle page doesn't show, but the tab does. Someone at Google is yanking your chain. I'm about ready to write my own local start page, and import the gadgets directly into that. No more clicks for iGoogle. Harrumph. Harrumph. |

Yeah I'm seeing the same thing as keithl. It's kind of sad that Google is being such a problem to work with in this instance. Let us know when you have a chance to fix it stinkinrich88. |

I am using 99.5 on FF4 and starting May 19 the sidebar is back. The top is still good. |
![]() ![]() |
Take a hint Google. Clearly people don't like your sidebar, so why keep trying to force it on people! |

It looks like Google changed the class name on the sidebar element to G-BT. If you want to fix it yourself before stinkinrich updates his script, modify line 47 and 48 and enter G-BT instead of G-KS.
One last suggestion, the reason I still use Rockmaster's script is because I modified it to provide hotkeys to change tabs without having to redisplay the sidebar (I hate it that much!). Since this script provides more options and is more up to date, I'd switch if that ability was added. All you need to do is add key listeners that set the window location property to 'ig?t=0', 'ig?t=1', etc. |

Thanks to Drew_W it is now working. Just edit the script with notepad, search and replace G-KS with G-BT and presto! It works. |

hm please can somebody tell me where do I find the script Drew_W is writing about? Sorry, my english is really bad and I do not understand all of what you wrote. Edit: I found the script and did what Drew_W wrote, but it does not work. So I hope, the super-igoogle will be update soon. second edit: ups. I forgot to do the alt-F2-thing at the site.... now it works even for me, for the moment. |

Drew_W's fix works for me! |
![]() ![]() |
Thank you Drew_W, changing G-KS with G-BT works great! |
![]() ![]() |
Well that lasted a whole day! The sidebar is back. |
![]() ![]() |
No idea how I can help myself. I am frustrated, but I can`t not even find the stroke 47-48. It is no G-KS there! |

Oh, yes! O, thank you! Dear Drew_W and everybody! I finded it and corrected it! I am so lucky! |

Where will I locate the script on my local PC for editing in Notepad...? I'm not used for this kind of editing..!! ;-) |

Hi guys, Sorry for the late reply. Yes, Google messed with the page yet again, and I just so happened to be away for a long weekend so there was nothing I could do. I think it's all fixed now, right? (with extra little improvements). @Drew_W: thanks for the advice! I didn't realise people used the tabs much, but I might put a little hover menu for them or something. I just wish I had more time to do it! |

The sidebar is now G-LS instead of G-BT.... |
![]() ![]() |
@inamak: oh please say you're joking! I can't find a problem at this end. What version of Firefox and what google domain are you using (.com, .co.uk, etc)? |
![]() ![]() |
I can confirm. Last week when they changed it I'd added a rule to adblock for the sidebar element. Today it wasn't working, so I installed the latest update, etc. No joy! Changed the rule in adblock to G-LS after I found it here and all is good.. for now. Using google.com, FF 4.0.1. This may be a stupid question, but can anyone tell me where to find the classes of the page elements for when they inevitably change it again? Thanks! |

Thanks guys, I've sorted it again. Sorry about this, Google aren't usually so annoying... I'll try to keep on top of things. @Nuscheiße: use Firebug |
