another bug (?)

X just started constructing a Duck Pond and needs you to send them materials to help!
X could use some shovels and watering cans over here for their Duck Pond! Pretty soon, they'll be able to show off all the ducks they've collected!
--cut-- ยท Send Parts

this post is incorrectly clicked, i dont have enabled any "give item to" or alike
i just have enabled getting duckpond materials
probably its not in exclude list

EDIT: the link goes to the general gifts page

if this link goes to a general gifts page, rather than sending a specific item, it is not a supported link.

My Firefox is leaking memory :(
i had that suspiction from a few days, now i just tested it
1 tab, only with FVWM, going from ~150 MB when started to 470MB RAM usage 47 minutes later

i dont have any fancy extensions, just the bare minimum:
adblock plus, chatzilla, colorfultabs, download statusbar, firebug, greasemonkey, linkification, noscript, searchpreview, stylish, user agent switcher, web developer
ff 3.6.13, everything updated

and now i dont have any clue what is eating all my memory :(((

The update didn't really do anything to performance so it's probably just firefox or something.

or something.
i've had a couple of instances where i've left only firefox running with one tab open for fvwm to run, only to come back later and find that the computer had rebooted. fvwm was the last thing to change before it started happening.
i'd walked in on one reboot, and when i reopened fvwm, it backtracked through 45 minutes worth of unprocessed posts, even though rebooting only takes a few minutes. sure, that's explainable by other reasons (fb connection error), but it seemed too coincidental at the time.
one of my other computers will really bog down after fvwm has been running for a while, then get better once firefox is closed. there have been a few times where it's gotten bad enough to freeze firefox.

89 is running fine on chrome other than the collections appearing to lag. still grabs them, but i am still using chromereload, so it forces it to move on. haven't noticed any new issues with my setup.

Joe, i can see that there were not much changes to 89... but why collectibles are bugged now?
why FF leaks memory?

this pic is from my little 47 minutes long test, the right half is the actual test
FF eating memory with just FVWM opened...

is it possible that you hit some limit within JS engine? or do you see any bug inside the code?
im still clueless about that :|

Came here to report that installed 18089 yesterday and having problems with Firefox since then if FVWM is running.
It seems to be eating resources and after a while will go up to about 2.2GB, at which point FF become unresponsive or sluggish and I have to give it the 3 finger salute. I can literally watch the memory creep up and up in Task Manager.

It also seems to go into a loop when it hits a pile of collections.

Whilst here I noticed this

"I've had FVWM accept friend requests, too."

Thats been happening to me for a while, but I'd put it down to FB Mass Accept despite the requests not being ticked. At first I thought it was me not noticing from Check all option, but despite unticking it still seems to happen on the odd occasion.

Im not sure, but is there some connection in the code between the 2... because what I have noticed for sure is that if I change the options in FBMA to say return gifts, then this totally resets my FVWM options back to the default actions in chrome.

Trust me, if I knew why it did it, it woudn't anymore.

Could you try this? http://chargraph.com/josh/files/farmville_wall_...

this code is a workaround, not a real fix
by hitting limits i mean something like this:
case "collectible" w += ( text.find("Paper") ? "paper": aaa ? "aaa": bbb ? "bbb": ...... : "");
you have here something like 62-64 ummmm... that things :D
maybe you just hit a limit? dunno, i'm just wild guessing

i'm trying now this code

niemamlogina User

a 30 minutes long test dont show anything unusual, no memory eating, ram usage of ~180 MB
BUT i disabled most of my not essential FF extensions, im reenabling them now, and going on another 30 min test

niemamlogina User

well, its looking good:

first "half" (actually more like 1/3rd) is a 30 min test with most extensions disabled, after a small nod a 45 min test with all my extensions enabled
no ram is leaking :)

> My Firefox is leaking memory :(

That started happening to me many releases ago. The faster I refreshed, the worse it got. I couldn't let it run over night without crashing unless I turned the refresh back to about 2-5 minutes. I don't recall the release where it started, but I posted on one of these threads when it happened. After several releases without a fix, I switched to Chrome and it works fine there.

It either conflicts with something else, or I hit a critical mass of neighbors posting or something. I don't run a lot of addons, just a few basic ones, including the one that recovers memory. I'm also still on XP with a 2GB machine. Besides not leaking memory badly on Chrome, it also runs much faster there. Then again, I don't have a dozen tabs open in Chrome either...

This time I'll disagree. I installed your temp fix for niem and it all went away and returned to normal. I then installed the normal update and it all came back. Something you did in the fix made a difference and I'm just happy that it helped ALLOT!!!!

@ Joe
"Could you try this?"

Thank you - Not sure what you did, admittedly Ive not tried it for long, but it does seem much better.

thanks, joe.

one thing i'm seeing with the debug window open is that fvwm will open a rewards link, then randomly get hung up on, or right after, that page. i'd noticed before using the debug window that i fvwm was hanging on finishing link cycles, and some of the link texts weren't changing to accepted or failed, so i took a look. i caught it several times with watering cans earlier. a few minutes ago, it got stuck on a wish list send item, which was the first link it opened to process. i'll try a clean install of the beta later to see if that helps. i did want to mention it, though, in case it's not something on my end.

That's not a memory leak, but it does need a big optimization. I just don't see a better way.

Pain N. Ass wrote:

It must have been my one and only performance fix I included in 089.
For developers, what I did was fix the Chrome backtrack feature because it never got an updated stream to run an xpath on, to check if the oldest post on the page is as old as the user wants. I realized it was getting a cached version of "main.stream" which, for some reason, wasn't updating. So I made "main.stream" a get() function so it would be called like a variable but run a function and return a value just as a variable would. That allowed the "main.stream" to be an updated version and Chrome could see the real last post.... but I guess this caused problems with performance and wasn't really needed globally, so I reverted "main.stream" and made another get() function called "main.realStream" for the backtrack feature to use exclusively, since that's the only feature that seems to not be getting the latest stream update.
