I get this message today when trying to download some video:

Error in retrieving download URL, try right-clicking on the format name and choosing "Save Link As..." or choosing a different format.

I notice that this problem only happen with mp4 (iPod Compatible, High Quality MP4).

I get the same problem, also when downloading the 480p flv... if chosen HQ MP4, it saves me a html file...

Found the work around instructions on the front page of another script. Add &fmt=18 to the URL and reload, then try to download.

It's a pain in the neck, but it works. I just hope it doesn't represent YouTube trying actively break download capabilities.

Any chance this may be fixed so we don't have to add this &fmt=18 everytime?? It is a pain indeed...

Of course YouTube is trying to disable scripts like this. YouTube has been trying to do this for as long as it exists.

I feel by adding &fmt=18, the quality of the video and audio lower than the normal iPod Compatible, HQ MP4. It just a normal 320p flv converted to 480p mp4.

Well, looks like YouTube has finally taken down the old get_video interface. This not only breaks most of the "iPod compatible" downloads, but also the mobile phone formats. I'm looking at a work around for version 3.0, but I'm swamped with studies so it might take a while.

In the meantime, using &fmt=18 does work. If you want the process automated, you could always use this script, but that will break the other formats.

EDIT: Disregard that, I think I fixed it. Try the latest version.
