Any news on an updated release?

First, I'd like to thank the Dev for this script, its works great. Just curious if a new release is planned, since I saw a mention of an updated release in other threads. Thanks again for this fantastic userscript. |

I released a beta version tonight, and will hopefully be releasing a stable version this weekend, or early next week. |

Thanks for the response. I checked your link for the beta, and it doesn't appear to be listed. |

Sorry, Almost all the comments on my scripts are for the same script, so I sometimes forget to check which script we're talking about :) I've been wanting to do a new release for this script for a while now, but I never seem to get enough time to work on it, especially since the new version is almost a complete rewrite. The new version isn't really usable in its current state, so I'll try my best to work on it over the next couple weeks and release something by Aug 22nd, even if its just a beta release. (Don't worry, I marked the 22nd on my calendar, so I should remember) |

Thank for the reply, looking forward to your next release. Just curious, will your next release include Social News sites such as Reddit.com, Digg.com, newsvine.com, slashdot.com, buzz.yahoo.com, Huffingtonpost.com etc... Those sites are often very useful to search since the comment pages sometimes have good information about the topic in discussion. Just a thought. |

I'll see if I can get those into the next version, but no promises. Either way, if I get the next version working as planned you will be able to create your own categories for sites. |

Alright, well I missed my deadline by a little bit, but I have put up a test version of Try This Search On (use that link because its not on this site yet). It is still extremely incomplete and I would advise anybody who is considering installing it to read the information on the download page first and then decide if they still want to go ahead. As the download page mentions I don't need any feedback on the config screen because I already know its incomplete, but please let me know if the script is not detecting searches on any sites (include a sample URL for me). On the bright side, now that I have that code up it should encourage me to work on the script more. I'm going to aim for a stable release by the end of September or early October, but I expect that the test version should be reasonably complete within the next week or two. |

For those who are interested there is a new beta of Try This Search On version available here. Among other changes, this version has a lot more of the config screen usable now, and also adds an import/export feature. I still have a fair amount to do before I make a stable release though. |

Hey, thanks for the latest beta release 1.9.9.1. Lots of nice upgrades added. I like the export/import function. This will save a lot of time after adding some extra searches, should I need to re-install. Everything appears to be working great, though I haven't tried everything. One bug, I think. When I click on Yahoo from the bar, the bar disappears on Yahoo domains. Thanks again. Your script ties so many search engines together making multiple searches easy and more informative. |

Thanks for the feedback. I've fixed search detection on Yahoo, so it will be working in the next beta. |

When I'm reading a Wikipedia article, the search bar is present. Is this intentional? If so, I find it a little distracting, since I don't really consider an actual wikipedia article a search result. |

I released another beta version tonight. Most of the functionality in the version on this site should now be in the beta, plus several new features. I'm still looking at a stable release by the end of the month, or early October, and I'll probably make at least one more beta release before that. @copota - Yes, having the bar present on Wikipedia articles is intentional. The idea is that you can easily search for more information on whatever topic you're reading about. This actually happens with several other sites as well, such as imdb and last.fm.

Thanks for the new release, I'm really enjoying the direction you're sending this userscript. I'm running on Firefox Version 3.6.9 A couple of things that may be a bug or user error. 1st. Auto hide is a very nice addition, and it's working well. However, when the bar hides, another smaller bar that's a transparent blue remains. Was this intentional? 2nd. I was adding an engine and I've seem to experience some rather strange behavior. Upon adding an engine, for the very first time after the script installation. I'll select "Add Engine" enter a lowercase name and hit OK, then none of the fields clear. If I continue to add a URL, Name, then Close, the googleweb engine gets edited to what I entered. Here's the strange part, after I enter this first engine, the second engine I add seems to work as intended. The fields empty after entering a lowercase name, and the new engine gets added to custom engines. Also it searches as intended. Thanks again for your continued development. |

Yes, the small transparent bar is intentional, so its easy to tell that the bar is present on the page. Of course having it completely hidden makes sense too. I'll modify the script to support both auto-hide modes. I'll look into the issue with adding engines. Thanks for the feedback. |

In case you didn't already know, the Cuil search engine has shut down their servers as of 9.17.10. At least that is what the Wikipedia article has listed. I tried to go to their url, and my page just keeps showing the loading symbol. You may want to verify, and update the script since I see you added a search option for Culi. |

Thanks for the heads up. |
