eats replies if i follow both

if i follow both people in a conversation, both tweets should be in my timeline so i can reply, but i find this script, otherwise terrific, somehow doesn't show the earlier message. for example, friend2: @friend1 we're having a heatwave_______-Reply -Retweet
i follow both people so friend1's reply should be in my timeline (i.e., not indented and mouseover reveals a reply link) but it isn't. if i want to reply or retweet friend1's message, i have to cut/paste it cuz hovering over a nested reply doesn't show a reply link. friend2: @friend1 we're having a heatwave_______-Reply -Retweet
that looks pretty redundant but i think we want the reply links to every message
