So I just uploaded the first update for this most recent layout change. Here is a list of features I've implemented. Moving the notifications to the chat bar has been postponed until the next version because I wanted to give you all something that worked as soon as possible.

Here's a screen shot of what the homepage looks like:

And here is where you can access the script settings from:

Good job!

Looks like the 'clear' button does not work on the home page.

May be a dumb question, but where did "Requests" go?

Whoops. I forgot to check that.

Actually I don't know lol. I haven't got any requests yet so I don't know where they show up. Could you disable the script and see if they are on the home page somewhere and tell me where?

Requests are in the normal upper right corner of the NEW FB layout without your script installed. They VANISH when the script is installed and appear in a momentary flash during a refresh.

Okay. Can you select them with your cursor and then do a right-click and select "View Selection Source", and then copy that source and post it here, and then send me the link? Thanks. Whoops actually I forgot to comment out the code that shows them. My bad.

Potential bug: One Column and 2 column layout can be selected at the same time. Depending on your intentions here I suggest it be a single toggle so it's one or the other. I didn't have the guts to see what would happen with both options selected together.

One column overrides two column. But yes I'll use a radio button that lets you select between one, two, or three columns.

Re-read my post. I figured out the problem myself.

I appreciate it.

Yes, I'm going to post a test version of the script for you to install and let me know if it fixes the problem.
Please install this script.

WAIT. after a bunch of refreshes requests are now at the bottom of the 1st column!!!!!!!

In one column mode they either do not move to the drop down menu or my PC can't can't go to a high enough resolution to see them if that's where they should end up in 1C Mode.

After a bunch of refreshes? That is where they are supposed to show up in two-column mode.
I just released a new version. The setting for number of columns on the home page is more clear.

2C & 3C modes look ok. Where are the requests suppose to be in 1C mode?
My highest resolution is 1152 x 864 if that matters to you.

I just updated that. Now in one column mode the requests appear above the feed. Now I'm going to take a break for a few days(unless any major bugs crop up of course).

OK LOL. No need to be a wise guy. I couldn't care less where they are and having the requests above the feed isn't so bad or even in the drop down. It's just a long scroll down to get to them. My personal solution is far easier. FB Home, Requests, Wall(Profile) and Notes are all one-click buttons on my browsers toolbar anyway. Look close at the photo link I posted and you can see what I did. Same for my Farmville; All toolbar buttons. All I need is a tight left side feed.

Everything looks & works really great so far and Kudos to how quickly you did it too. My "imposing" question now is this: in 1C mode, Can you left justify the feed to the far or near far left side? Right now the sidebar is mostly filled by an empty column 1. Baring that possibility then what about dumping the feed into column one in that mode? eh?

It can't hurt to ask and it's not my fault that sidebars are highly utilitarian or that people like me push a programmer to test his abilities. I'm a computer tech so I have my own user nightmares to deal with too and share your pain despite being it's cause. ;-)

BTW there are the New radio buttons (cool) and there is also a separate 1 column layout setting. If that's by design I can't figure out how to use it or what it does.

Thank you very much too and hope you appreciate a typical techie sense of humor.

Good. Thanks. I like it too, but I prefer two-columns myself.

That's what I want and I've been fighting with it for awhile now, but I still haven't been able to get rid of that gap.
Thom Kime wrote:

That would be the worst option. It could cause all sorts of style and usage problems. The best option is figuring out how to get rid of the left column and I'll work on accomplishing that. Success! I figured out how to left-justify the feed! I'll release in few minutes once I've had time to clean up the code a little.
Thom Kime wrote:

It's not programming that's the problem here. It's styling and that's never been my strong suit. I'm more of a functionality man.

Lol, that is an error. I was consolidating the options into one radio field and didn't remove the checkbox for one column layout(though it actually does nothing).

I have to pee really bad and I don't think I can hold it much longer. Where's my coffee cup??? LMFAO!

Shoot. I just can't stay awake anymore. Well it will be like a Christmas Present in the morning when I test drive it. I'm very excited about this! G'Night SizzWizz!

Okay, I just released a new version. It has better styling for one-column mode. You can now show suggestions in one and three column mode (it's impossible to show them in two column because trying to move the box freezes your browser).

Dang it I was late by a few seconds lol. Anyway, I think it looks much nicer in one-column mode now. You can shrink it down to a pretty thin width and it still looks good.

OMG It's INCREDIBLE! I click to split the screen and the whole damn feed auto fit the sidebar. That's WAY BETTER than the old stuff. You are a man of miracles!!!! Did you even know it was going to autofit like that? WOW. I'm breathless but apparently I can still babble on. MuhWAH!

I just had to look one more time before bed. OK. OFF to bed if I can even sleep now. I want to test drive this puppy with the Farmville Wall Manager script and see how she purrs..
