Can't get it to work in Opera
![]() ![]() |
Hi. I'm using Opera v10.10 and really like this script. The problem is that after having followed the guide it doesn't seem to work. I renamed the script as 36453.js as directed, put it in C:\Users\Administrator\Application Data\Opera\Opera\styles\user and directed Opera to look in that folder via Tools > Preferences > Content > Javascript options. I made some changes (e.g autoplay and autodownload false, big comments etc) saved and reset the browser and nadda. Is there something I've missed? Do you need Java as well as Javascript? Please help. |

I will also add that a test script works when I put it into my javascripts folder so the problem must be with this script? |

I've tested the script today with Opera 10.10 and it works ok. The script doesn't need Java. Some ideas: - If you have modified the script, try redownloading it. Make sure that you change ".user.js" to ".js" and put it in the folder you have selected in Opera's options

Thank you for taking the time to offer assistance. "If you have modified the script, try redownloading it. Make sure that you change ".user.js" to ".js" and put it in the folder you have selected in Opera's options" I have re-downloaded the script as advised and renamed it to
"Have you modified any other Javascript option in Opera's preferences?" Here is a screen capture of the Javascript options and the script's folder:
At this stage changing the auto-play/auto download/more comments variables does not work so I will go onto your next suggestion. "Try reinstalling/updating Flash Player to the last version" I have updated flash player to the latest version and it makes no difference. I performed all flash tests I could find and it looks like it is working as it should. "Make sure you aren't using the new YouTube interface (HTML 5)" When I go to this page: http://www.youtube.com/html5 it states that "You are not currently in the HTML5 beta." "Do you have any antivirus/firewall/security suite
I only have NIS 2010. I do not think it is blocking javascript files. It doesn't even integrate with Opera like it does with Firefox and IE. "Post any error you have in the error console while navigating a YouTube video page (clear it first)" I cleared the error console and watched a random video on
"JavaScript - http://ad-emea.doubleclick.net/adj/com.ythome/_...? Linked script not loaded
Linked script not loaded
Linked script not loaded" I have uploaded the full list of errors as a .txt file because there are a lot of them:

Sorry, but I don't see anything wrong. Maybe you can try reinstalling Opera. |

I have uninstalled and re-installed the latest version of Opera v10.51, re downloaded flash re downloaded the script, checked the pathways, made sure a test script file works and still can't get this script to work. |

It doesn't work right now with the new YouTube's design. I'm rewritting it right now. |

Ploder, can you try the new version to see if it works now. Follow the installation instructions and configure the script with the new configuration dialog. |

Awesome. The stuff that you have implemented works for me in Opera v10.53. Keep up the good work, you have almost achieved my dream of a clean Youtube for Opera ;) *One small thing I have noticed*

Ареопагит, there's nothing to fix, the script works ok, it's a problem in your end. You don't have to edit the script in this new version to configure it, you have a configuration dialog that can be opened with the Configure button (the change you posted only changes the default value of the option). If the configuration dialog doesn't work in your computer, then post the javascript errors from the error console and make sure you are using Opera 10.50 or superior. |

I can't read russian, so I can't read that page :-) I have tested the script right now, so it works in my computer. Can you see a javascript error in the error console after trying to save settings? Do the other options get saved? What message do you get if you go to a YouTube's video page and then write in the address bar this code?
Do you use any other userscript? |

Hello, Mindeye! You were right! I'm using about 100 scripts... And your script is blocked by "Textarea Backup Localstorage" ( http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/77681 )...
THANK YOU for the wonderful script!!! |
