For some reason I can't seem to change the width of the sidebar no matter what I do.

I go into "Tools -> Greasemonkey -> User Script Commands -> Google Reader Absolutely Customizable Options" and set the value next to "Resize side navigation (in pixels)" to 300. Google Reader refreshes, but the sidebar remains its previous width. I refresh Google Reader manually but the width does not change. I go back into the Options and the value is still set to the default 175.

I've repeated this process multiple times. I've tried reinstalling both the script and the Greasemonkey add-on. Nothing seems to work.

Any ideas?

I'm not seeing anything wrong in my installation. Have you tried changing any of the other settings? Do any of them stick? Does the Google Reader page refresh when you click the Save button on the dialog?

If you feel comfortable changing your about:config, you can try to manually change the following value:

greasemonkey.scriptvals.http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/58577/Google Reader Absolutely Customizable.resizeSideNav
or just search for resizeSideNav in the filter area.

Now that you mention it, none of the settings seems to stick when they are modified in the method described in my original post. However, going in through the "about:config" interface seems to do the trick. I was able to resize the sidebar.

That's the only setting I really wanted to change, so I'm satisfied. If you're at all curious why the settings don't stick for me, let me know if there's anything else I can do to help you figure out what's going wrong.

Thanks.

Honestly, until someone else sees the same problem, I'm inclined to chalk it up to some incompatible extension or a quirky setting somewhere. Thanks for the offer though and I'm glad you were able to get it working.

I am having the same problem with none of the options sticking when i change them. Google Reader refreshes when i click save, but the settings do not change. I think the problem started when i installed the new greasemonkey update. Please fix because this is my favorite script.

If you are having trouble, please let me know which versions of Firefox and Greasemonkey you are using. If at all possible, try creating a new profile and only install Greasemonkey and the Absolutely Customizable script and see if you still have the same problem. It is working for me with the latest of both.

sernk - Have you ever seen it work or did you recently install it/never seen it work?

dr99 - It seems it was working before for you, but stopped working, right? Since I'm using the latest Greasemonkey (0.8.20091209.4), I'm inclined to think that's not the problem.

I think I may have found the problem. Anyone seeing this issue, try the latest version and let me know if the fix works.

Not working for me. I get the following error when I set ANY of the options:

Invalid type for field: resizeSideNav
Please use type: int

Thanks

@Mentallo: What is the value in the textbox at the bottom of the dialog when you click 'Save'?

I have the exact same problem that Mentallo described. I am using the latest version of greasemonkey (0.0.20091209.4) and I am using firefox 3.0.

@Jeffrey Coleman: Same question as Mentallo then -- What is the value in the textbox at the bottom of the dialog when you click 'Save'?
