It would be nice if we could stop having MeTa threads like this: http://metatalk.metafilter.com/18434/Why-doesnt... What about checking for a deleted post at the next ID? Short of that, a prominent warning that the most recently deleted post may not be shown? I'm sure this is all explained somewhere, but how it works apparently not getting through to the people using it. |

I put a comment in that thread indicating why the script doesn't currently check the "next" post ID to see if it's been deleted. If there isn't a deleted thread there, the script can't cache that information to ease the burden on MeFi's servers. We'd have to check to make sure EVERY time the home page was loaded. If not, there'd still be people who wouldn't see the deleted future post as long as the cache was around. |
