Hi,

Firstly I'd like to say I have dome a bit of a research before posting. I have tried the address URL test to query the amount of people stored in the list, for me I have 131 friends and it shows 139, I assume some of those are friends I have added and I know for certain I have a few.

Basically my issue is that I cannot seem to get the script to function. I have the check time set to 1 hour. In this hour after a check I remove a test friend from my account, once this friend is removed I wait for a re-check to occur and confirm that the time stamp does indeed change, after this I can still however see the friend in the text of 'greasemonkey.scriptvals.znerp/Facebook Friends Checker friends' where it shows all friends in the list. The ex friends list remains empty.

I am open to suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong, I am using the latest greesemonkey and the new Firefox 3.5.3.

Your support in advance is appreciated.

I would also like to add that I have cleared the error console and reloaded the page, on the Error Tab 0 errors pop up.

Is the friend definitely removed from the list of friends at some point (nb. the friend will not disappear from the list if you re-add them before the script checks again, even if the friendship is not confirmed)? If the friend is completely removed from your list then they should not appear in that list.

Also, I've not checked it's valid but you may not be aware that you appear to have included your Facebook ID in your first post. There is an edit link under your name in the post if you wish to edit/remove that.

Hi,

Thanks for that, it has been removed. Yes I have given it plenty of re-checks and the friend has been removed for quite some time now, from the time my prevous post till the time of this post.

If the friend is removed from your friends list and doesn't show up when you start typing their name into the search bar in the top right of the page then they shouldn't be in your list of friends saved by this script. If, whilst logged in to Facebook, you go to this address; http://www.facebook.com/ajax/typeahead_search.php then search for your friend who is not in your friends list, do they appear?

I worry this script is becoming way more hassle than it's worth. Every time I have one of you people complaining that it doesn't work with your testing and I try to replicate the problem I can't seem to experience it at all. It seems to work fine for me and a number of my users I have tested with, but yet somehow it doesn't work for other people and it's a massive headache spending a few days going over this stuff in this way.

I hope this is good news because the friend that was removed does not not appear in that list you told me to search.

I apologise for causing greif, I'd love to have your IM contact and speak about this one-to-one.

I'd donate some funds as well if I had the money to do so, I will shortly and will donate some money.

Well my my, will you look at that. The script is working. It must have something to do with loading that link you told me to load.

Excellent, so it works then. I'm sorry; didn't mean to have a moan about you earlier, it was just one of those mornings where I had a hangover and it's quite frustrating having to draw this out by posting over several hours/days in this way when the problem is likely simple. I will also ask on the forums about some sort of IM service for this site, that might be useful for people.

I appreciate that. I just got an update request for the script. I've clicked on Install and it went through fine, is that the proper way to update it?

Thanks

Assuming you installed the script with no problems, then yes that is the proper way. I added an update checker to do this a few versions ago.

This new version actually implements a change specifically to ensure that problems like the one you had shouldn't happen again; the script should now be more responsive to changes in your friends list.
