Took me some time to understand too.
Forget the import, ill explain it at the end.
All you have to do, is go to a village page, and a new option will be added, "add to village manager", when you press it, a new village will be added to the list.
you can open the options, by pressing little icon, and then you can add more option to the display, like distance, notes, attack button, etc.
If you add choose tag, you can then change the tag for each village, and then even filter by tag.

The import is good in case you want to transfer the list to other computer, just press it, copy the wierd text, and paste it in the new computer with empty village manager, and it will show all the villages.

Hope this helps.

OK, you have to be in "Map View", then if you click on a city you will get the option to add it to the list.

ALSO.....

Once in the list, click on the settings (options) button, bottom right, next to the drop-down list of the filters, then enable all the options under "view", you can turn them off again once you have seen what they do...

Have fun..
