Thanks, I'll take a look. Hope you don't mind the borrowing - it was excellent work, I just wanted to do something different with it. As for streaming comments, of course I know how to use them. ;) I'm just used to block toggling comments via Notepad++.

if you are going to get all teh glow time you might as well make a count down to full utilize the data
if you are not appending elements in someingt use textContent
ex
element.textContent='GLOWING!';
it is faster than
element.innerHTML='GLOWING!';

actually getting the glow every time a page load could be considered spamming gaia (which is bannable)
btw tanks stop glowing after 5 minutes
the time is updated after 20 minutes of the glowing starting
i like the ui you made better than mine
you might want to make it if the time gome for it to glow to change the text in the button

Hmmm. I was wondering about the page load and the multiple xmlhttprequests. In my testing, I hadn't seen any warnings from Gaia, but I'll look out for them.

Do you know if there's a sign that just shows when the tank is glowing, not when it's going to glow? (I could reactivate my Firebug but your script did provide a shortcut.)

Some tanks I was looking at went as long as 7 minutes, btw.

I haven't noticed a speed difference between innerHTML and textContent, but I'll check it out.

i found that out in the forums

you have watched a tank say booty grab for 7 minutes never seen that need to find a crap tank that is not worth play to test this
take a look at http://absol.site88.net/gtools/glowTime.html
a tank is actually open for 9 minutes and 30 seconds according to the code

"open_time":1254901763,"close_time":1254902333,"end_time":1254902393

Hey guys. Umm, it don't actually work for me. I don't see any red thing anywhere?
Explain?

yung: A person with dialup reported a problem where the red glowing indicator didn't work. He was using Netzero, and either the ISP was blocking the xmlhttprequests for the Booty Grab time, or 56K was just too slow for them to work properly. That may explain your situation if you too have dialup.

If you don't have dialup... um, don't know. Test on a "glowing" thread in the Aquarium forum to be certain?
