I think it would look better if the layout of the homepage stayed true to the original format, however remained with a black theme. How many people would agree thats better than having it reduced in size and at the top of your browser? Maybe allow the google logo to change like it does for holidays as well?

Jackel 159,

I get where you're coming from, but please understand that with all the different International Google homepages, combined with Firefox 2.0.0.x, Firefox 3.0.x, Firefox 3.5.x, Opera & Chrome support it's very hard (I won't say impossible) to get all the homepages to look and act similarly.

I try to do my best to keep them all consistent, and change as little as possible (and as you requested, I actually try to keep the spacing as close as possible And maintain the 'special logos' when they appear.)

Now that I have a 'special logo' to work with today ["Invention of the Barcode"], I can fix the homepage logo-overlay problem and for your request, try to maintain more of an 'original' layout. All that being said, I'll do my best but no promises on the outcome as I am not even sure yet ;) ;)

Thanks for the feedback and ideas though, I really appreciate that. Hopefully I can make some improvements that will help you and everyone!

Best regards, GD

Jackel 159,

Just wanted to follow-up and let you know that I made a bunch of improvements in today's v2.9.7 update, which include some a bit of cleanup to the Google Homepage (especially making sure that the special logo shows up properly.)

I hope you enjoy this update.

Take care my friend,
Gabe D

BmW,

I'm glad you like the new updates and noticed already! that's cool
(I was just about to msg you to let you know I fixed it for you, but you beat me to the punch.)

I'd love to use a larger logo, but that would mean I would have to include a different logo, but maybe I can try something different (I just had an idea) in the next release. Ya... hm.. thanx for spurring my imagination! haha

Great idea my friend. I'll see what I can do...

I think the changes to igoogle are good there not to much and they don't take up too much space.
I btw blocked off all clutter with adblock, don't need extra scripting to block stuff :)
You can use the element blocker from addblock to block some stuff that you don't use.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/...
And if you need some stuff that you blocked just disable adblock.

Haas82,

I also use AdblockPlus to kill all those annoying ads, but just in case people don't have ABP I also include the ad-elements and iFrame blocking to be thorough. When doing development on this script, I always start with the lowest supported FF-version, which is 2.0.0.x, then I move up through the supported versions and browsers from there. In the dev browsers, I don't use any plugins other than GM & Firebug (and Mr Tech Toolkit to be fair), which makes it easiest to identify those pesky ads. Though one pain in the neck is that I cannot seem to select the ads within iGoogle Modules, therefore I too use Adblock to trim the rest of the wasted-space. (thanx for reminding me to add that note to the script page, i meant to yesterday)

Well, thanks for the feedback and ideas ;)
I'm glad you like the iGoogle mods---that's exactly what I was going for.
I think you'll really like the v3 update when I get the time to implement it; stay tuned my friend: good things are coming...
