Since this user script constantly is being updated, it would be really better if it wasn't a popup message box because it steals focus every time. A better solution would be simply to display a link next to "YouTube Auto Buffer Options" that says "A new update exists. Click here to download".

Thank you.

Keep up the good work.

Yeah. It's not actually updated as much as it says, because there's some bug with Marti's updater.
I gotta figure out whether to switch updaters or suffer until a fix.

Try uninstalling it with the "Also uninstall associated preferences" box checked, then install it cleanly. If it still has the problem, please post.

@JoeSimmons,

I'll pop over onto my windows machine and retest it again there but it's not occurring on Mac nor Linux. Has this issue been around longer than a few days or has it just appeared? How many youtube tabs are open at the same time?

I'm also noticing your install ticker isn't just continually on an upward trend so this might be isolated to a single set of users. I'm also going to try a clean profile with just the latest GM and your script and cruise around YouTube for a while and see what it does.

I also do recommend uninstall associated preferences. If a user is tweaking those manually it can cause undesired results in any script.

It started when I switched over to the new friendly url require.

Usually none. It only pops up once every 2 days when I go to youtube (it runs on youtube.com/*). Basically the first time I go to youtube in 2 days (I go more often but after it's been 2 days, whatever youtube page I go to, it pops up).

Did you try the "rewinding the clock" method I told you about? I'm on windows now, but I have to do winupdate before I run off and check it out. This will take 2 days as you know... I can force it to 1 day locally to help expedite it but like I said Nix nor the Mac are buggin me incorrectly. Thanks for letting me know about when... I'll check the logs too.

Ahhh up to date already with winupdate... time to go see what happens... if you change your script within the next 2 days it'll blow the test away... but this is on my laptop so I can bring it around with me. :)

Well I "rewound the clock" and of course, as expected, it didn't prompt me for an update since there isn't one. I'll go add the debug code and give you instructions on how to use it in a pm.

Yes.

No worries, I'll check the script in the next couple days to see if it acts funny. If not, then the solution is re-install with a fresh config.

JoeSimmons actually could write an override to do this, however the updater will continue to default to an alert box. Since you stated that it "steals focus" this implies that you have multiple windows/tabs open. After JoeSimmons figures out his issues I might have a moment to work with him to show how it's done if he's willing.

Perhaps just a simple new profile would be a possibility. I know you are experienced but we can all use helpful reminders every once in a while. :)

This is supposed to be a fix for the people, I'm sure they don't want to make new profiles.
BTW, no update popup yet.

Oh.. you mean your script... that I'll agree on. As far as the Mozilla circuit goes... migration errors happen all the time and it's a better idea to try a clean profile before reporting a potential feature on anything. :)

Me either... but have a few more hours to go. LOL

Well it's definitely been past the maxage of 2 days... I've left my Windows machine alone other than visiting some rather amusing videos on youtube... and since there are no updates on USO your ticker is in a downward progression and of course no alert widget has been fired.... in English for the rest... this means usoCheckup is working within normal, expected parameters.

I can't think of any other reason why you were getting this... I have been successfully using it on my scripts since June'ish without too many hiccups... but September is it's official debut... if you think of something please let me know. Thanks for debuggin' with me. :)
