So... why does one have to activate javascript for the link checking to take place?

This thing is written in javascript language, obviously it cannot work is javascript is disabled.

Since when are user scipts dependent? Apart from that, version 2.5 ran fine without js. Maybe later versions too, but that's the one I used before upgrading to 3.1 last week or so.

I'm just curious as to why this was necessary....

Probably I haven't undestood correctly what are you asking.
Please explain what do you mean.

Ok so the one or other (or not) might have figured I use NoScript. Just let us leave aside as to why.
As I already wrote I'm just curious why you have to enable javascript from a website in order for RLC to work. eg. example.com. If not allowed, RLC doesn't work.

I just tried a different profile without NoScript, disabled JavaScript and it won't check.

I don't know, maybe try asking in the forum?

What do you mean hosts what forum?
I disabled javascript on a new profile _without_ noscript.
Why does RLC depend on any scripting from the top level site? It's just weird...

edit: well ok let me rectify. it does convert plain text links into clickable ones (I don't use that though), but it doesn't check them... ?

I mean http://userscripts.org/forums . As far as i know RLC doesn't depend on any scripting from the top level site.

You should look if there are errors in the error console, this maybe can give a hint to discover the problem.

Are you sure this is no bug?
Just try it out yourself and disable javascript in Options> Content.

I can't imagine why there would be an error in the console. But no there isn't one.

Now I get what do you mean but it is really strange that userscript can be executed when javascript is disabled (I don't think the same thing is possible in other browsers).
Actually this script got partially executed since text links are transformed to real links but since this script is complicated, checking why this happen isn't easy.

Maybe I can check this in the future but it isn't guaranteed.

ahhhhhhhhh thank you ^^. Yes, it is weird see.. ^^
Well no worries. I reverted back to 2.5 (in the meantime of course).

Yes that is what I noticed too. See ^. Well, doesn't matter. Just wanted to let you know ie take your time.

Thank you for this amazing script.I love it. However, there's an incompatibilty with NoScript. This version of RSLC only works on whitelisted pages. It's pretty annoying. Version 2.5 worked fine, so I reverted it. Is it possible to fix it? Thanks again.

Finally I found out that the window.setTimeout function was the cause the incompatibility with the NoScript addon. The next version will be NoScript compatible.

@hosts
Good to hear that. Thanks for your answer.

ah. Great. It wasn't really a NoScript incompatibility. But whatever.
