Another suggestion is making the image stay 100-200ms after you move your mouse from the image, so you have enough time to right click the big image and safe it to disk.

Apparently this already works. Seems like something on my end.

other possible suggestions:
Center the image or keep it away from the mouse pointer, and having a black background so the artwork stands out better.
