Before this script, I didn't like gmail. Since I found this, I have been converted. Like everyone else, I have been waiting anxiously for a fix, and I was very happy when I saw that a fix was available now. But I'm still having a trouble. I have downloaded and installed the new version, but my folders are still not showing up correctly.

Anyone has an idea what I may be doing wrong?

Scott Dafforn pointed out, that the update (version 1.5) was not compatible with the Gmail Labs Tasks feature.

If you use Tasks, re-install the script (version 1.51) and it should work.

I have the latest version and I don't use tasks but the folders4gmail does not work. Any other ideas what might be needed?

Thanks.

Same as Justin. Does not use tasks, and not even the newer 1.51 works for me. I wonder what the issue could be.

Sorry to hear that it still doesn't work. Maybe there's still a bug in the update. :-(

Some ideas:
- do the Folders work in the "Older version" of Gmail?
- try to restart Firefox

- go to Settings > Labels and click show all or Gmail might hide your labels behind the "More" butten under the labels

- do you use other userscripts or add-ons with Gmail?
- do you have any Gmail Labs features enabled?

- try to uninstall Folders4Gmail from Greasemonkey and then install it again
- do you get any error message? Close Firefox, open only Gmail and have a look at Firefox menu Tools > Error Console

Please let me know if this helps or not.

Hi Arend,

Thanks for your continued willingness to help. Something strange seems to be going on.
(i) Folders work fine the "Older version".
(ii) I tried uninstalling Folders4Gmail from Greasemonkey, and I that uninstall was successful, I think. Before the uninstall it was listed as one of my userscript (the only one, really). And after the uninstall it was no longer there.
(iii) After uninstalling I closed Firefox, and re-opened it then with only Gmail. I checked and Folders4Gmail was still not listed under my user scripts. But ... it still works under the "Older version". So, it seems as if the uninstall has failed in some way.
(iv) If I re-install it again from the website at this point, it shows up under my user scripts again. And there are no error messages. But it doesn't change the way it works -- i.e. still doesn't work with newer version, and still does work with older version.

I don’t understand this, and I’ll understand it if you can’t figure it out either. You don’t, after all, have access to my computer!

Do you use Better Gmail? If you uninstall Folders4Gmail from Greasemonkey and restart the browser, the script CANNOT work anymore. You should not run the Better Gmail feature and the Greasemonkey script at the same time, as they might interfere with each other.

I think if you disable the Folders4Gmail feature in Better Gmail, the Greasemonkey script will work.

I was just logging back in to say that I figured out the problem was a conflict between Folders4Gmail and Better Gmail. Once I got rid of Better Gmail, everything started working the way it should.

Thank you, again.

Ahh it was better gmail. Getting rid of it fixed the problem. I forgot I even had better gmail installed.

Thanks

I just updated Better Gmail 2 (which contains updates to this script). Works perfectly.

I tried using Gmail without it (renamed all my labels, tried to pick the ones I needed on the screen all the time)... The Gmail changes are bollocks. Unusable. This script update fixes some of their mess.

Thank you.

My install wasn't working at first either.

When I went into GreaseMonkey to manage scripts, I found TWO Folders4Gmail listings. I needed to disable the old one before the new one would work.
