I don't see this particular item mentioned here, so I thought I'd bring it up.
After much trial and error I have discovered the following:

I have a bunch of labels. I have discovered that if the first label in my list has an unread email that Gmail compactor is broken and my gmail displays regularly. If I mark the email in my first label as read, gmail compactor goes back to working as normal.

Hope this helps some other people

Interesting, thanks for bringing it up.
I am going to be putting up a link to the newest version of the script, and I'll need a few people to test it. I've overhauled the way it works, so issues like the one you are bringing up should be resolved.
