Hello everybody, I noticed that Google Books now has a new look, and the way we preview books has changed. The result is, unfortunately, our cool google book downloader can no longer work. Hope our awesome author RedPhoenix89 can beat Google's trick, again!

I have some very small issues that I've observed versus previous version:
1) the scroll bar on the left doesn't has an "end"; that is, if you try to drag the cursor, it disappear from the screen; sure, when the book has a few tens of pages.
2) it seems that a fixed additional extension .png appears in the name file not regarding the real extension.
3) the script doesn't work if the book/magazine is not shown in the right side of the screen; that is, it doesn't when the Download button appears for the first time on the left but you have to click on the book icon to view it and then you have to click on the Download button on the left.

Anyway, this is a great script.

Does the new version work for all of you? In my case, I can click on "download this book", and a there shows up a "Getting page list, please wait..." but turns out the url: book.huhiho.com only. Anyone knows what happened? should I set something first? Thanks!

I think your problem is similar to that described in the issues #3 of the previous post: before to click on the download button on the left frame, be sure that the book/magazine that you want download is shown on the right frame of the screen. In other terms, click on the Google "Read this book" on the right frame before to click on the Download script on the left.

I try to download the new google book downloader but everytime i click on the bottom "download" there come a page with words but no download.
Is there something wrong?

Also, someone posted [you have to click on the book icon to view it and then you have to click on the Download button on the left.], what "book icon" are you referring to. I don't see a book icon. There IS a small jpg of the book you are previewing on the left below the "download this book" button, are you referring to this icon? I tried clicking that and I am still having a similar problem as rudy above. I click the download button and nothing happens. That's all. Maybe Google is following this discussion as well.... :( Cat and mouse. Solutions?? If needed I can post a picture/video of what is happening when I try to download the book since I have Camtasia studio.

I was wondering if this had something to do with the plug-in "NoScript". When I enable script for Google, all the pages of the book are on one page but if don't allow google scripts then only one page at a time is shown.

Thanks chartitalia, I know what you mean. But I did click on "read this book" and wait until book pages show up in right panel, still doesn't work. Maybe something wrong with my firefox. Thank you anyway!

Thanks too redphx for all his efforts. I still cannot get the full book download to work.
Of course I am trying to get a 1551 page length book. I do not know if that makes a difference. I am able to get about 550 pages, but not all. It lists 1551 pages while downloading, gets to a certain point, then says "Done".
This is the book I am trying.

I figure it maybe several issues.

1. User Error
2. Google Programmers are making changes.
3. the script is not picking up all the pages for some reason.

*Note* I have tried several books with the same results, pages missing. Even if you try to view the pages in firefox, they are not listed.

"Not Found The requested URL /books?id=_7viXgnzPUYC&pg=PA10&img=1&zoom=3&hl=en&sig=ACfU3U26TGWFkkp83IOD9GzMXgjlJxEJ-Q&w=800 was not found on this server."

Hopefully new the version and new website will address this.

Hello 2thick, you should be able to download 1197 pages of the book you mentioned. But you can't download them all from one IP address in a short period of time. Google sets "page-quota" for every unique IP address. To work around this, you need either to download the pages in a long time period (so the "page-quota" gets renewed), or to utilize some proxies.
You won't be able to download the WHOLE book anyway (for most books, about 20% pages are restricted and never preview-able), but you CAN download all the pages that Google allows you to preview (i.e., about 80% of the book).

are you using what opeating system, Vista or XP? I have a friennd of mine that has the same problem like you, and he use Vista. Is there anyone with the script working with Vista? Could be a problem of user privileges?

I could use the Downloader (0.6.9.33532, Win XP). Long ago it was working, but since the spring 2010 not really. If I paste the link in the Add Book box the search doesn’t find anything (it appears blank). I refreshed the downloader (0.6.11.36366), but still the same . I think the google “fixed” something in the scripts, because it was working but nowdays not. Did anybody else experience this problem?

Cotta, I`am having the same experience. I have installed 0.6.11.36366. Anti-virus, firewall, and netframework anren`t a problem. So, I`ll appreciate if anyone can give some help. Follow the log. I`ve added users by daily proxies, but the outcome is always the same: nothing. Check out the log. Thank`s people !!

Hi all!

I thought that somebody should make a kind of .bin database. After downloading, the .bin file could be uploaded and otheres can download it. In this way you don’t have to start the downloading of your book from the begining, because someone has already done it. I have already 35-40 .bin files to be shared. Of course not all of them are totally finished. Some still need 8, some 30 or more pages. It could be written out that this book has e.g. 345 pages and 300 are ready. From the other side of the world it could progress on.
