it used to work great in firefox version 3.0.10, although firefox didn't work too well. the script doesn't seem to be working in 3.0.11. the previous version of firefox crashed a lot and I'm wondering if they fixed it by closing something this and other scripts used.

It's not "not working because of firefox".
It's not working because of Zynga. They updated MW today.

That the same "update" that broke the status invites?

I have 3.0.11 and this script worked great yesterday, but today it doesn't work at all. What gives? Any clues?

This hasn't worked since the addition of Cuba. It can't have. One of the xpath checks has changed from "..._user_cash" to "..._user_cash_nyc"

I just decided to go in and make it work, since nothing is happening. It may not be the best code, but it will work. I'll post it later. I'm about 70% done.

I have updated the code so it works. It can be downloaded/installed from: www.myschiffman.org/mafia_wars_next_best_buy.us...

Thanks Brownbag. I installed your patched version and it's working for me.

Brownbag -- why don't you post the update right here on Userscripts.org -- it doesn't cost you anything and then people can be more certain of the script's security without doing as I have just had to do -- comb through the code to be assured it is not going to do something I don't want it to do. Thanks!

I'm hoping that the real owner of the script will take any changes I made, clean them up and have a new version. The last thing I want is to have any sort of ownership of this. However, I find it way to useful to have it broken. So, I just cleaned it up enough to continue working.
K Nelson, hopefully, people will trust the two of us, and now know I've not added anything harmful to the script.

Your new code is very sluggish and locks up Firefox 3.5 for 5-10 secs making it unusable. I had to uninstall to get Firefox back working.

Brownbag, I did a diff of the old version and your changes and didn't see anything malicious. It is a bit sluggish, not sure if it is your changes or not.

It's hard to believe I did anything to change the performance. My changes basically just selected a different element in the HTML. They added a new element to keep track of NY vs Cuba. Most recent it no longer handles the integration of purchasing property with the buildings. Whatever the script does to figure that out that's broken could be causing the slowdown. I notice it too, although it's working well enough that I won't be fixing it unless I have some spare time. At some point, I may just have to take this over since the previous owner seems to have gone awol.

I have been traveling for over a week and my script had stopped working. I think a new firefox had been installed automatically. Finally got home, rebuilt a new PC, installed firefow, greasemonkey, this script, it does not work. Version of firefox is 3.5.1. Any suggestions, i am approaching having 40,000,000,000 and nothing to do with it?

I'm getting tires of not knowing what to buy. It's starting to affect how fast I get money. I'll take a copy of this and redo it. This time, I'll figure out why it takes so long too. When I'm done, I'll just have to take ownership of it going forward and post the results on the site. It may take a few days.

Thanks, Brownbag.

I have fixed it and uploaded it to the site. I've claimed ownership until such time as David contacts me and wants it back. The link for the new version that works is: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/55396

I will answer questions there.
