Access from multiple labels?

One of the things I was hoping for was that I would be able to access a message from multiple levels of the same folder, without applying labels multiple times.

For example, say I have the folder setup:
1
1/A, 1/B
1/A/a, 1/A,b, 1/B/a, 1/B/b

So, I have three levels of folders. How I understand it is now, I can apply a label (say, 1/A/a) and it will display as an unread message in 1, 1/A, and 1/A/a. But the only way to get to the message is to go to 1/A/a.

Is there anyway so that a folder will show all messages in all folders below it?

For example:
Clicking on 1/A/a will show all messages in 1/A/a
Clicking on 1/A will show all messages in 1/A, 1/A/a, and 1/A/b
Clicking on 1 will show all messages in 1, 1/A, 1/B, 1/A/a, 1/A/b, 1/B/a, and 1/B/b

I know, long post and sort of confusing, but I just wanted to try to make my question clear.

I mainly use Folders4Gmail to simulate plain old folders. What you are looking for seems to be a more label-like feature. Have a look at LabelLinks4Gmail:
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/30757

It's a userscript based on Folders4Gmail. Among other things it adds an arrow behind the labels, and if you click the arrow it shows all emails from that label and all its sublabels.
