Hello everyone!

I installed this script in Firefox 3.0.7 over Ubuntu Jaunty and it's not working. It's a little bit strange, because I haven't got any problem with the Gmail Favicon Alert, it works like a charm, but this one not. Also tried this at work (Windows XP and Firefox 3.0.5) and got the same unsuccessful result. Any tips?

Thanks a lot

Do you have any scripts or addons that are hiding the number of unread items in the page title? Typically, in English, the page title would look similar to "Google Reader (354)".

I am having the same issue as Babyshamble. I even tried disabling ALL but the GreaseMonkey extension and it still didn't work. I also have not had any problems with the Gmail Favicon Alert script. I am on Firefox 3.0.8 and WinXP. Plus, I have no other scripts that affect Google Reader. Any advice?
Thanks

Not to belabor the point, but does your Google Reader tab title read similarly to "Google Reader (354)"? Currently, the only issues I've dealt with have been based on a script or option to hide the unread count. The script uses that number to update the favicon, so I just want to check that it's there.

The unread count doesn't show up in the title bar of the Reader tab. It only shows "Google Reader" Do you have any ideas how to get it to show up? I have already checked my addons and scripts by disabling them. Do you think something in the config could be messing with Reader?

The only thing I know that does this is a User Script called "Hide Google Reader Unread Count from Title Bar" available here: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/38169

I paged through all of the settings I could find, and it doesn't look like a native setting Reader provides.

Another strange thing I noticed was, when I use Reader in IE7, I still don't have an unread count even though there are unread feeds in Reader.

Edit: Do you see a number on your Google Reader next the the "All Items" link in the left navigation bar? I don't, I wonder if that has to do with the problems I'm having.

Edit 2: Ok, I figured out what the problem was. In the left side navigation bar where it has the "Home" link. I clicked the drop down arrow just to the right of the "Home" link and selected "Show unread count". As soon as I clicked that the favicon popped up with the unread count. Woohoo!
Thanks so much for this script.

Wow, you're awesome. I had no idea that was even an option. I'll add that as a note to the description. Thanks for figuring this out!

The numbers only appear, when I visited the google reader site.
I also tried the "Better GReader"- Add-on. Doesn't work either... suggestions?

...3 1/2 month later, the problem stays the same and nobody has a solution :(

Tried to comment on this last week, but then the site mysteriously returned a 500 error.

I grab the count from the title of the page. After you load the page, does the number update when more items come in? Are you using any scripts that modify the title of Google Reader? Can you list out any user scripts or addons that are enabled that would be in use on the Google Reader page? Thanks!
