I see there are already 16 installs, so I guess there was at least some demand... :-)

However I have two questions:

- one is technical, why do you "remove" the bar element (or 't' for DiggBar) since anyway the location will be "replaced"?

- wouldn't it be nice to have a more generic "whateverbar killer" with different versions depending on the location (might be less efficient though...)

Two answers:
- Removing the bar element ensures that you never actually see the rendered bar. It's a somewhat aesthetic move, but it ensures that you never even think about its existence, and makes the script as unnoticeable as possible. If the linked website loads slowly and the bar isn't removed from the DOM, you'll see the bar for a good second or few before the site loads.

- Yeah, efficiency is key for me. I hate bloat. But I suppose if more people say they want a more generic killer, I could make one.
