Chat Icon & Taskbar Icon
|

So, first off, the chat icon isn't working. I know it's an option in the "User Scripts Commands" menu item but that item is grayed out and since (I'm guessing) the default behavior is off it doesn't work. Also, I'm on Win7 now and as you may have heard/read they are now using a mac-like taskbar which is textless. I've looked through userscripts hoping that I could find a script/extension that would change the taskbar icon to match the favicon on the active tab, thus changing the taskbar icon whenever I got new mail / chat so I would know that I needed to restore my minimized firefox and check on my gmail page. Did that make sense? By the way, Greasemonkey 0.8.20090123.1 and FF 3.0.8 and Win7, as I mentioned. |

That did make sense. I've no idea if an addon can manipulate the icon in the Win7 taskbar, but it looks like I'll need to install a VM of Win7 to test everything else. I'll get back to you with what I find. |

I've yet to get Win7 installed, but when you're viewing the User Script Commands, are you on the Gmail tab? Greasemonkey only shows the commands for the scripts running on the focused tab. If you are on the tab, it might still be an issue with Win7. I'll plan on checking it out soon. |

That was it, now if I could just figure out how to get firefox to pass the active tab's favicon to the taskbar rather than the firefox logo. Is there anything for this in XP/Vista? |

It looks like a few people have asked about it (http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=8..., but I can't see any examples of it being done. |

Here's a new extension for firefox to do (something like) this. http://prism.mozilla.com/ .
