links wont show for some users
I just realized that the links stopped showing under some of my friends... but they still work for others... please fix =*( |
from what I noticed is if you view properties, the ones that don't show the links anymore are the ones that have a http://www.myspace.com/forexample instead of the ones that have http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction= user. viewProfile&friendID=FRIENDID I dont know how to go about showing it how to read the ones that changed =*( this scripts is HUGE lol |

the same happened to me. |

It is impossible to place image links under a link that points to a user's named shortcut page, since their friendID cannot be determined. This was labeled as trivial in the past, because the only places links would appear this way are on profiles written in by the user... Is this appearing on myspace-generated pages now? If so I would like a copy of the source code of a page that is affected this way, or a link to a page that examples this bug. |
they just dont work at all now... if I view my friends list, none work anymore.. they all say invalid friend ID (thats if they have the links show up) and the ones that dont have the links under, are the ones that have the custom URL I dont quite understand what source code you want ? |
not sure if this helps but from the looks of it there's a div with the class "friendHelperBox" that has a "friendid" attribute, like this

OK, thanks to all of you who have sent me code samples of where MySpace breaks this script. Unfortunately, it appears to be happening everywhere across MySpace and not just specific pages. I've patched the script to use the friendid attribute where applicable (so far only on the My Friends page), but elsewhere where it cannot find a friendID the links will fail. I will do more research in trying to resolve this issue, but for the moment it appears as if MySpace may have finally broken this script for good... P.S. If anybody knows of a way to find the friendID of a link that doesn't contain one, please let me know so I can have this fixed asap. |

Thank you so very much Adrian. You're awesome! |

I dont know if this helps.. but the profiles that dont have the links under the photo because of the
http://www.myspace.com/forexample ... for example and replaced it with the ID number.. and the links appeared.. but u cant save it like that.. just trying to help u Adrian to find the friends Id number.. sorry I'm not good at this... |
also.. if u view the person comments.. click on view all comments.. the ID number comes up.. hope I'm helping..lol |
Numbers: Hmm, yes those are precisely the kind of things I am looking for. Unfortunately I don't think I can use either of them, because (1) the former relies on someone being logged out and the other user having a private profile, and (2) in order to get the friendID from their comments page we need the friendID, so that ends up in a Catch-22 situation. I could probably scrape the profile page for friendID's using AJAX, but it would take some time and could be unreliable... But it's better than nothing... |
u can get the ID if they are ur a friend and ur logged in and click view all their comments.. I dont know anything about AJAX. .. I only tried to find their ID Number. that's all I can really do.lol I wish I knew more.. but please try to find it.. I love my links.. thanks Adrian. |
