I really don't know how this has happened and whether this is EVEN possible..

My actual profile URL is
http://userscripts.org/users/64729

Where I post legit scripts to help people.

This user:
http://userscripts.org/users/74079

Has impersonated my username (Impossible, but true) exactly and has posted 2 scripts that steal cookies.

As a result, I've had one person hit me with a negative comment. Probably he misunderstood me for the other guy. But this HAS to stop! Please do something about this. My reputation's at stake here! I mean, really!?

How is this even possible!?

I mean.. does it not strike you people?
Your site (userscripts) most definitely lacks in security.. Two usernames exactly same!?

There are uniqueness on names. he added a character that wasn't rendered... I'll try to increase uniqueness more

I removed that user and scripts.

OK one Lifetalk is removed, but can anyone (High ranked maybe?) confirm that the remaning "Lifetalk" has never included a malicious code in his versions?
I've not been around this site long (since yesterday to be exact), so I know nobody, sorry if I offended anyone.

I'm amazed to see that the Impersonater's script has even more downloads (120,000) compared to the real one's script (14,000). So who's the real celebrity here? Of course, it's very likely that the Impersonater's number of downloads is inflated (bogus).

Again, that raised a question about Userscripts' security.

Thanks Jesse :)

Like I've mentioned in my scripts and reiterated countless times, feel free to inspect my jQuery file thoroughly. I have absolutely NO cookie stealing stuff on it.

I posted that on the 'Cookie Steal' mega thread. Apparently, people thought those scripts were mine! :S

Also you should start counting number of installs based on unique installs.

To inflate the download count of a script, all it takes is 4 lines of PHP code!

My script is legit though, and not inflated. Because I've advertised it in a couple of places (there's lots of people who use Rapidshare Remote Uploading)

Lifetalk, jQuery 1.2.6 is hosted on the google AJAX Libraries API content distribution network.

http://code.google.com/apis/ajaxlibs/documentat...

e.g. http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.2.6/jquery.js

Yansky, thanks a lot.
To be honest, calling it directly from google will help remove any suspicion and an additional headache in maintaining it on my server.

Use the jQuery latest file :D

http://code.jquery.com/jquery-latest.min.js

or the minified google one:

http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.2.6/jquery.min.js

lifetalk Scriptwright

I would of used that... but my script has a note in it stating it does not work with the latest jQuery. Needs the 1.2.6 to work.

Thing is... I am not the best when it comes to programming. Did this one with the help of another guy. And we were unable to change the script to make it work with the latest jQuery version.

What the hell? You screwed around, didn't you?

lifetalk Scriptwright

I was trying it out. I did screw around (won't lie, obviously).
Deleted it, and re-uploaded to reset stats. 1Mil seems unrealistic!

keep in mind I pay for this bandwidth...

Once again, am really sorry Jesse and will be more than happy to compensate should you need me to. You can contact me at [email removed by admin]

I never intended to go that far. I guess something went wrong and the server kept requesting.

Jesse Andrews Admin

just saying don't go overboard.... no need to compensate

lifetalk Scriptwright

Apologies Jesse. Won't happen again :)
