How can I add some of your options to another script?
|

Hello, I use a different script http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/31864 but I really like some of the options you have created. I wanted to know how I can add the Preview, Expand/Contract button, Stop button, and normal quality option(non-HD/HQ) to that script. Can you tell me how please? |

The approaches in this and that script are very different, so it would be difficult to port those options to that script. If you like these features you could install my script and uninstall that script. If you want some specific option that script has but mine hasn't, I'm open to requests :) |

Well, I disabled HD because my computer is slow so I was hoping your script would automatically load HQ18 but it doesn't. It only plays in normal quality. If I add &fmt=18 to the end of the url then it gets HQ18. So this script seems broken. Clicking the MP4 button makes firefox ask me to install Quicktime, but I have Quicktime Alternative already and don't want to install Quicktime. The other script I use always loads HQ18 videos with no problem. If I could just add those few options of yours to the other script it would be perfect. Any chance you can do that? |

Ok, so you need HQ but not HD. I think I could add an option for that. |

Mmm, I'm sorry, but right now the script can't do it, because of its architecture. I strongly recommend you to try the Quicktime player instead of the Flash player. Specially in slow hardware, the change is amaizingly noticeable. If you don't like Quicktime for any reason, you could try another plugin that works on Windows: VLC. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html This is why I'm maintaining this script, MP4 plugins are much more efficient than flash ones. For two reasons: 1) that allows your machine to fully use your graphic card instead of your CPU, and 2) native plugins were developed to only play videos, and the Flash plugin must do many other things. Flash is more flexible at a cost of the efficiency. |

So the script can't do automatic HQ18 loading right now? Do you mean the VLC plugin works with the MP4 button? |

The script can't do automatic HQ18 right now if: 1. You use the Flash version.
Exactly like Youtube without scripts (try to load the HQ version in an HD version, Youtube don't allow it). I'm going to change the architecture of the script to have this option, but I don't know how much time I'll spend on it. About the VLC plugin, I haven't test it, but it should work if you install it properly: http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/windows-all.html#VLC If you try VLC succesfully, please come back and comment your experience. Specially if the VLC plugin provides an option to do fullscreen :) |

Actually Quicktime Alternative did work. The .mp4 filetype in the configuration wasn't checked. But I don't like how it doesn't tell you how long the video is. There's no timer. The other script I use has HD and HQ. If I disable HD it will then use HQ or whatever the next highest quality is. I also like how it gives you download links on the page for all available vid quality files (flv, 3gp, mp4, hd, etc). If someone could combine both of these scripts together I think it would be the BEST. But all I can do is hope. Your script is still pretty good. Thanks! |
