Can the advertisement for downloading the song from amazon/itunes be removed? Also Id like to remove the video description. Lastly could an option to set the background color be added?

Thanks and sorry for asking so much.

1º Can you post a link to a video with that ad? I haven't see it (maybe it isn't shown in my country)
2º I'll note that down
3º It's possible, but a Stylish script will be more suitable to do that (because of the flicker)

I can verify this, and it is very annoying too.
So I was a little impatient and removed the ads myself.

This is what I added to the script in appropriate places:

Remove the Download from ITUNES section -

// Remove advertisement section
delNode("watch-buy-urls");

Remove the advertisement in the player -

// Removes the advertisement module
deleteFlashVar("ad_module", false);

EDIT: removal of the "this video has an audio"... infringement notice

// Remove copyright section
delNode("watch-infringe-div");

Thanks for the code. If anyone points me to a video with that ad, I'll be able to check it and add it to the script

Also can the ad (at 0:13) that shows on the video be removed too?

Why blocking ads with this script at all? Just get Adblock Plus for Firefox and enjoy ad-free surfing.

To Buggy,

Firstly did you release that your post is so spam like that if I were able I would flag the post as spam by giving the post a thumbs down! [To Admin: why has this feature been removed ?]

But to answer your question with several good reasons as to why use this script to block ads is

Because:

  1. Adding an extension to firefox causes more memory to be used and therefore hogs system resources more, this gets worse the lower the specifications of the machine.
  2. Youtube can be incompatible with adblock plus as it often causes playlist functionality to break with me.
  3. Adblock plus is actively blocked by some websites that basically cause the functionality of their pages to break due to not allowing the advertisements to be downloaded. This script only strips the ads on the client after they have been downloaded.
  4. Youtube constantly change their code which means you would have to block it again and again generating a ton of blocked items in adblock plus that effectively block nothing. Messy.

I noticed you haven't even became a fan of this script so it would have been more respectful to Mindeye, the author of this script, if you appreciated all the time, effort and hard work he has put into it for everyone to get a better youtube experience.

So, you should first become a fan, then just enjoy the features of the script and over time you will see removing advertisements with this script is so much better.
I apologize if this seems harsh but it must be said.
