I dont know that this IS a virus.
This thread is to establish a possable conection.

For those of you like me who are still learning/don't have a clew......

If your computer starts slowing down between a click and the result (eg you roll the wheel and wait for the page to move), BUT IT WASN'T DOING THIS 10 WEEKS AGO (and yes that point is very important to you) AND you script is acting odd/some functions of it dont work any more. READ THIS THREAD CAREFULLY. if you dont have those problems read this thread and remember it, just incase.

for them that know how....

this runs on xp/98 the task is Rfpicon - but i have no wireless gamepad ( or wireless anything ).i found it by a clean install of 98 FF GM and this script. only tasks were explorer, systray and anti-virus stuff (unnamed so as not to panic). after a time the script stopped functioning. and in the tasks was Rfpicon.
it is not just the hospital though, it also is affecting the ability to turn on the aggresive refresh and on one occasion the ability to do jobs. i have not had it affect auto buy, yet.
i think it is corrupting this script's BD. it is a deffo that it causes time delays which increase. it can bypass three diff anti's.

if you want more info ask in detail as im not that good with comp's.
any thoughts / info very apreciated.

What happens if you try to delete the exe, or stop the process?

i dont know where the exe is to delete.
when i stop the proccess all the speeds return to normal, instantly, and only returns on a restart. i have looked through config.sys but there is nothing there that i can see.

run "msconfig" to start the System Configuration tool. Look at the services and startup tabs to see if it is in there and configured to automatically start when Windows loads.

I doubt that this is anything malicious or intentional. Some version of FF have been prone to memory leakage and do benefit from the occasional shut-down and restart.

it's not malicious by itself, it's a battery status indicator program for a wireless gamepad. I hope you've already tried to use the search function to find it. If not, do that first (duh). Which operating system is this running on, Win XP or Win 98? they are not similar or interchangeable (as in xp/98 like you said). and what's a clean install of 98 FF GM? Greasemonkey for Firefox, I assume, but what's 98? they're only up to v0.8.20080609.0, so that doesn't make sense to me. To find out what that program is, where to go to for help to get rid of it, and who makes it:
http://www.letmegooglethatforyou.com/?q=Rfpicon
click the first result there.
Just so you know, it's a really bad idea to run more than one anti-virus program, they interfere with each other and cause problems (hint, hint). Also, completely unistall/reinstall Firefox, then reinstall GM and this script (and reset the database), and after you've found which one of those antiviruses you want to keep on your computer, use that to scan that specific file, cuz if it runs, you can find it. That link shows where the default install is.
It's possible a virus has infected a file or renamed a file, but you need to use antivirus/spyware/malware utilities for that. Run your antivirus, then I'd suggest using Spybot, maybe Ad-aware, and/or spywareblaster for dependable free utilities. There are plenty of virus related forums that would help much more than this one, but you have to do a little searching.

crypto - i did but it is not there.?.

sm00th101 i am not new to computers, just scripts/programing. i wouldn't try to run more than one anti virus at once, not even on one OS install. a clean install of (windows) 98 includes a reformat of the Harddrive.
i know what it is MENT to be, but not having anything that uses batterys apart from bios....and it is appearing on both 98 and xp but i have never seen it before in the last 10 years. i have been uninstalling FF and having to dlete the folders as well, it is the only way i have found to clear the corruption and get this script up and running again even if it is only a tempory fix

go to techsupportforum.com or majorgeeks.com, post a hijackthis log, and they can determine if your system has malware on it. Hijackthis is a free program you can download which creates a log of your running programs and startup. Also SUPERantispyware and MalwareBytes anti-malware are the newest generation of anti-spyware tools available. You should install those and run scans from both.

System Internals (now owned by Microsoft) has a good set of tools that can help you stop the process from starting up, found here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals...

you can use Process Explorer to verify the signature of that program and to see if it is being started by another program (like Firefox), and you can use Autoruns to see all the processes that are run when you boot up Windows - be careful though because you can mess things up with that one.
