delta count?

Everyone has their own Gmail inbox strategy. I personally only keep messages that I plan on dealing with immediately in my inbox, otherwise they get filtered or archived out. Thus, to me "11 messages in my inbox" really means "11 tasks to deal with". "2 unread messages" really means "2 potential new tasks to deal with". Other people though simply label incoming messages rather than filter them out of their inbox... thus their Gmail inbox contains many unread messages that don't really need to be dealt with. One potential solution is to only show the delta in unread messages since logging on to Gmail. Thus, if when you sign in to Gmail in the morning with 600 unread messages in your inbox, and then shortly thereafter you get 7 new messages, the Greasemonkey script will show "7" rather than "607". Thoughts? How do you use your Gmail inbox? |

I agree with you, Eric! I use my inbox the same way. I deal with messages as they arrive, so if a message is unread, it must be dealt with soon. Dealing with a message usually means reading it, tagging it and then if I don't have anything more to do with it archive it. If it's not archived it usually means there's a task associated with it that needs to be handled. |
