Hi,

when selecting the starting page, and the clicking Start Download button and then the Pages list is fetched and shown, why there is no "stop listing pages" or something like this ?

what if the book is 1000 pages ! and i only want to download 5 pages starting from 136 ???
in the current version the continuous fetching of pages list is annoying.

Hi, after google books changed to the new version, I am not able to download any book. There does have an icon "Download This Book", but after I click on it, there just nothing but your webpage. I don't have any idea about what's going on there

But when the "downlod this book" icon is clicked, the "Getting page list, please wait ..." message appears and lasts like forever and never show any page list.

Wht can be going on?

I am from Brazil, use firefox 3beta5 on windows XP SP3

I have got a similar problem. whenever i try to download a book by clicking download this book. this message appears "Getting page list, please wait ..." and it takes years n years n doesn't load the page list". please solve this bug

I only can get the frontcover and the index of the books, but whenever I try to get the book an error occurs. I tried to download several books and flashget always report the same problem.

thanks for this great script.

Nevertheless I found a little bug. The script hang/crashed after I tried to download this book ( http://books.google.de/books?id=nMwy2y_4VFcC&pg... ) in the middle (page 165). It crashed because the html-code did not have the expected form:
{"pid":"PT38","order":38,"title":""},{"pid":"PT39","order":39,"title":""},{"pid":"PT40","order":40,"title":""}
(!notice the "" at the end!, usually there is something between the "")

so regular expression could not work properly:
var regExp = new RegExp('{"pid":"([^"]+)"}','g');

I changed it a bit and now it worked for this book:
var regExp = new RegExp('{"pid":"([^"]*)"}','g');

maybe this causes some other problems, i don't know. But so far it seems to run better.

Hi everybody
I confirm the script is not working anymore (be it under Vista and XP) since Google Books changed its format (in my case, the 'Download' button does not even appear).

(ADDENDUM: SEE MESSAGE BELOW)

It's me again -- actually it does work, both under Vista and XP, but to make it work I had to replace the jquery file (in the gm scripts directory) by downloading it from the web. I haven't looked yet to see what was wrong with the included file. Furthermore I updated Java in the meantime, so that might have helped too!

I had problems downloading the books, as I only could downalod the frontcover of them. I use firefox 3beta5 on windows XP SP2
All I did was to unistall all the mozilla's add-ons and reinstaled the add-on in this order. Flashgot, grease monkey and then google script. I had problems with "flashget", so I don't use any download assistent. The assistent of download of firefox handle well in my case.
After this I made some configurations to my country.
In firefox tool bar > tools > add-ons > greasemonkey> options > add pages > (add according to your country) In my case was "http://books.google.com.br/*"
GO to the book you want and the press the "download this book" buttom. A list of the pages that can be download will appear imediatly (If it take too much time is because some problem occur, try to reload the page)
After the message "done" is shown highligh manually all the pages, then rigt-click > "flashgot selection"
Then the pages will star to be downloaded in a unknown format
rename the files to ".jpg". Them you will be able to view the pages.
I'd rather to read in .pdf format so I rearranged the pages renaming them according to page's number. Then I use Image Magick to convert all the .jpg files in a single .pdf file

Vermes22 I tryed this method in the book you want and now it work perfectly.

I'm using Firefox 3.0.12 and it hangs at "Getting page list, please wait ...". Tried updating script manually, same issue. Does anyone have this working? If so, what specifically did you modify?

first, I want to say that you have done a great work. It runs well on my computer, but How do you feel about changing the download source pic from google to a larger one, such as 1202X1681, not 800X1159. That's not a problem for you. I think the bigger pic is more clear. How do you feel?
Now I use your scripts to produce the hyperlink, after that, I replace the W=800 to w=1202, Would you do us a favor?
Next step for me is to find some running proxy.

ok, uninstalled everything and started from scratch. Latest firefox and greasemonkey, still no go. Anybody have any tips on debugging?

I've redone all the steps you wrote and having still the same error.
Is it still working at your PC? I'm asking it to know if it is a problem of my pc or if google books has done any changes after you succeded to get the book.
