Since this script doesn't seem to work anymore, here's another approach that's working for me:

Comments are scored, and on the page for any video with comments YouTube allows you to set a minimum score below which no comments are displayed. Setting this to "excellent (+10 or better)" almost always hides every comment. And the minimum score setting is remembered for the next few videos you see. The problem is that this minimum score setting eventually expires and is forgotten. To stop the setting from expiring, you can install the Add N Edit Cookies Firefox extension, then choose Cookie Editor from the Tools menu, and Edit the expiry date of the YouTube commentthreshold cookie (which stores this setting) so that it will not expire until far in the future.

No...NO!!! YouTube has changed its comments system! This script doesn't work anymore! Must find another script...

Nice script, too bad it doesn't actually do anything.

Thanks for this script! YouTube comments are bad for your psyche...

nice script, i love all these scripts i'd never think of. youtube comments are like a train wreck (much like digg comments) and i'd much rather not have to read the inanity. I'd do the same for digg if it wasn't for all the comments for mirrors. thanks
