@ekbworldwide,

1. Not sure, right now I have too many projects going on to figure it out.
2. I haven't planned on extending it much further than it currently is.
3. I'm not sure if Greasemonkey can "get" CustomizeGoogle's block list.
4. It could, I just don't see the point in changing the text from "Blacklist Domain" to "Filter".

Per your problems with CG..
1. I only filter web at this time, I could probably extend it to the other Google properties, but as I said above, I have no time, right now.
2. When you blacklist a domain with my script, it displays something like: "Result Blacklisted: www.experts-exchange.com" in small font. The results aren't totally omitted. Maybe I could add some preferences, but we're back to time.

For now, the script works well enough for my needs. Maybe next month I'll have some free time to work on it more.

Suggestion

Provide screen shots.

I use CustomizeGoogle to filter stuff at Google.

questions

1
Can your script co-exist with CustomizeGoogle?

2
Will your script be able to do what CustomizeGoogle can't?

3
Can your script handle a gigantic block list? My CustomizeGoogle list is 125K and tends to grow bigger weekly.

4
Could your script provide a filter link like CustomizeGoogle does?

The problems with CustomizeGoogle...

1
It only provides filters for: Web, News.

I wish it would filter more searches: Web, Images, News, Video, Blogs (etc?)

I mean, it would be nice to have Google permanently block sites like these - from all my different search results:

spammy_image_site.com
spammy_news_site.com
spammy_video_site.com
pointless_blog.com

2
CustomizeGoogle doesn't provide a way to permanently hide stuff - it reduces the unwanted hit down to the url in gray. And I use Stylish to permanently get rid of the links.

/* hide results that are filtered by CustomizeGoogle ---------------------*/
SPAN[style*="color: rgb(170, 170, 170)"] { display:none !important } /* Hide the numbers*/
a[style*="color: rgb(170, 170, 170)"] { display:none !important } /* Hide the links */

I assume that your script already does #2 for web searches.

Paula, I'm not sure what is causing that, could you post back with your: Operating System, Firefox version, Greasemonkey version, and are you using the standard U.S. Google or another nationality? Also, does this happen for every time you use it or just certain items?

I'd like to try to duplicate the symptoms, so I can fix it.

Thanks!

Thank you! This will significantly reduce my use of profanity while searching. :)

Two small issues:

  • I must click "yes" twice.
  • After blacklisting a site, the results page behaves as though the [shift] key was held down. As I scroll or mouse over the page, the page text becomes 'selected'.
  • Cross
    Presentational HTML allowed.
Use <code> for inline code and <pre> for code blocks. Use &lt; and &gt; for literal < and >.
