Can the script be modified to add the option to insert the URL into the body of the message?

Thanks!!

Hi, great script -- works well! I use it often for Craigslist. Anyway to modify it to pull the content of the CL Ad or highlighted text from the webpage and insert it into the body? Thanks!

I use Yahoo mail and installed this. The first time I clicked on a mailto it went to yahoo. After that it has only gone to google mail. How do I fix this?

hi. i just instaled Firefox 3 beta1 and there seems to be a new mailto handler which i think gets in the way. anyone have any tips on how to disable this?

L. Garcia User

Thanks. It works well. I've been waiting for something like this.

awesome.

although, your test mailto link doesn't have a subject showing that's transfered into the correct field also.

Hi Max, me again. I figured it out. For anyone else with this problem go to about:config and you have to add a greasemonkey.editor and set the value at C:\WINDOWS\NOTEPAD.EXE and that will give you the notepad so you can make edits.

Hi Max, I have been using your script (love it) but just had to reformat my computer and now I can't get it again. Nothing happens when I click on edit. I see a previous comment with the same problem. I tried reinstalling both Firefox and Greasemonkey but still nothing happens. The notepad is not popping up when I click on edit. Do you have any idea what else could be preventing it?

Thanks, Annie

For Yahoo! Users on the new drag and drop interface - if you enter the yahooserver name as 'compose' instead of a number, this should work perfectly!

Great job Max

Hi Max, I really love your extension. :D

It's an awesome idea that I think should be implemented into the core of FF; pretty sure Opera already has it.

My only problem with it, was it taking 80 seconds to work its magic on pages from overclock.net

I have no idea why it was taking so long, but I guessed it was the result of a few things:
-The sheer amount of HTML code
-The XPath objects
-Those [] operators, which seem rather like wildcard searches, except in ASCII text?

Anyway, got rid of those(and the Yahoo option), and now it works great on my comp. Thanks for the great extension! =)

To enable it for Hotmail:
In whichService, put hotmail
Delete this line:
alertText = "Mailto 2 Webmail\nSorry, Hotmail isn't supported at this time.\n(And probably won't be.)";

Not 100% sure if it works 100% of the time, but I made some tests and everything was perfect here.

Strange, I just tested it on XP SP2 and FF 2.0.0.6, and it worked fine. Do you have another plugin, script, or application forcing all documents that should open in new windows, to open in the same window?
Anybody else had this problem?

I have the var openNewWindow = true, but the Yahoo compose mail page is still opening in the same tab as the original link. I am running XP Pro SP2 and FF 2.0.0.6.

Hiya, if you have the Google Toolbar installed it will automatically open mailto links in Gmail if you configure

Settings >> Options >> More >> Send With Gmail

I don't understand why this isn't a default Firefox setting somewhere. I'm writing a script that creates mailtos on the fly and so far the only thing I've found to work for opening them is the Google Toolbar.

kashman: Thanks for the info.
Springy9: Probably a problem with your Firefox or Greasemonkey installation.

Springy9 User

How do I edit the script? I press the Edit button on the Manage User Scripts but nothing happens

I mean yo may be able to add Hotmail support using info from there. I used it some time back and it wasnt too bad. But because Extensions are a little heavier compared to GM scripts, as far as I can figure, I guess I can employ this better.

Thank You for your hard work.

Check this out. You may be able to use something from there.
