Hey all,

I'm working on fixing this; ff3 / greasemonkey broke something or other. Sorry for the delay.

Yep, it's broken on FF3. However, if you have AdblockPlus, just block: *.nytimes.com/js/common/screen/altClickToSearch.js. Problem solved.

Doesn't work for me. FF3 RC1, Mac OS 10.5.3.

Travholt Scriptwright

Doesn't work for me in Mac FF 3 RC1 (with extensions.checkCompatibiliyt set to false).

This script also works, as-is, on cbsnews.com, which has the same "feature".

Just add http://www.cbsnews.com/* to the included pages list.

this is fantastic man - thank you. I wish to hades I'd have looked here earlier!

Trevor Creech Scriptwright

Excellent!
I too select text randomly while reading articles, and this was driving me nuts.

bobielawlintine Scriptwright

You could just block altClickToSearch.js with Adblock Plus or Opera's built it content blocker.

Scott Graham User

Thanks! Such an idiotic "feature".

Daniël de Leeuw Scriptwright

Thanks Earl!
I've been looking for this for quite some time.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

You rock! Thanks for killing their annoying page view enhancer. Stupid stupid NYtimes.

McD User

It works! Thanks so much. You have greatly reduced my odds of ever going postal.

Matthew Flas... Scriptwright

Great script. This has been annoying me for a while (I have the same habit).

David Booth Scriptwright

Suggestion: Please add "nytimes.com" to the title or keywords for this script, so that people can find it when searching for scripts for nytimes.com. Thanks!

George Saunders Scriptwright

Thanks.

Thanks Earl, thought I was going crazy at first. What a stupid "feature" NYT has added. I had to restart browser to get your script to work, but works as advertised.

wlai User

oh man you saved nyt.com!
