Still no luck with this. Being on FF3 with Google Apps for your domain, this happens all the time. Mostly receiving an email gets finally the icon to change, only after all mail has been read before (means: opening gmail in FF, having new mail and reading all does not change the icon to the red one then, only changing after receiving an email later, and not even always). Drats. I really loved it when it worked fine. |

@nathaniel_higgins Still have yet to be able to reproduce this bug. Another script seems to be more liberal with its included sites for Gmail, so I'll give some extra urls a shot and see if I can get it to happen for meāthen I can try and fix it! |

Yep, it is strange that those problems do not happen to you (or your browser). The problem is persisting - no mail, but the "default" state of the icon seems the blue one. When receiving new mail and archiving it, it turns red again. Hope you get it sorted somehow, really love your script ;) . |

Thanks for letting me know Bouphecr. I'll keep trying to break it on Google App accounts and see what I can come up with. |

Hi Peter,
Edit: I am not having Gmail Labs available for my account (Google Apps for your domain) yet, though my language is English. So this Hide Unread script cannot be the thing bugging my browser :) . |
|

@Bouphecr I'm still testing fine on my Google Apps account, but I find it odd that it stopped working with no large updates to Gmail. Recently, Google added Gmail Labs, which allows scripts to be added to customize Gmail. The Hide Unread Counts script, in particular, is known to completely break Gmail FavIcon Alerts. If you happen to be using the Hide Unread Counts script, I'd suggest you remove it and see if that fixes the problem. My Google Apps account does not have the Labs scripts available, but I'm not sure if that's true for everyone. Another question I've got is about the structure of you Google Apps Gmail account. Does the URL structure still follow this syntax: http://mail.google.com/a/[url]? |

Well, well... having had a good time with the script so far, the Gmail icon now fails to display properly. Either I have a blue icon until I really received a new e-mail and then it turns red again, or it just stays blue all the time although there is no news or in the meantime, news arrived and get deleted/archived. Am I the only one?

@georgie That's a happier ending than last time. Still have no idea what was causing the issues, but no matter: all's better now! |
|
|
@Bouphecr I'm glad it's finally working! Glad to know you can see your unread messages! |

Hadn't been working before, but now flawless, really great. Now I am able to see unread messages, finally:-)! |

@Sam Moore, @georgie Since you've been having issues that I can't seem to solve in this current release, I'd really like to see if the new version I'm working on, which has been wholly re-written will work on your systems. If you wouldn't mind testing it out, drop me a line at http://peterwooley.com/contact and I'll get you a copy of the new source. Thanks! |

I don't have any unread chat messages, but my icon is flashing orange. What could be the problem? |

@georgie That build should *definitely* be supported. I tried the script on a few other like machines, and a Mac, just for kicks, and was always able to get it to work. Which leads me to a couple more questions: Are you using the latest GreaseMonkey (the script should alert you, if you're not, but I thought I'd ask) and are you using a Google Apps for your Domain account, or a typical Gmail Account? Thanks for helpin' me fix this! |

@georgie Could you let me know what browser and version you're working with, as well as the platform? It's odd that it's not working at all, but I bet we can figure it out. Thanks! |
