Just a thought but if you used a Google search, instead of the Us.o search, since Google could probably handle the traffic no problem, and you could revert back to the original, check every page system.
Of course this still means google get's your entire surf history, but then again they probably have most of it anyway what with "I'm feeling lucky" from the location bar.

Nice useful script, but doesn't work with certain domains i.e. with www.whatever.co.uk the search term is 'co' not 'whatever'. Thanks G

I probably meant "pull" from a cache instead of a "push" from userscripts.org

Ok, well I realize the load issue this has created but can some cache feature be implemented that keeps track of what domains with scripts available? Maybe userscripts.org can help with this. I think this script is much more viable when it has an occasional "push" to the users that there is a script available that they would otherwise never check for.

Something that is updated every 24 hours or there abouts would be excellent.

jesse, thanks for the tip. the harmful aspects of this script have been removed. can we re-enable?

We want to add this functionality to userscripts.org & greasemonkey itself... We've put off doing that for the time being since we wanted to make sure we could handle the increased server load...

I would MUCH prefer it if you could implement this script the way book burro works. It only makes the request when the user clicks the box to ask are there scripts.

Another thing to remember is that by using this script you are sending ALL of your browsing history to userscripts.org, including https urls... You should at least set the include to only http://*

Right now if 1000 people were using this script, you could probably severely damage userscripts.org to the point I would have to take very drastic measures.

When you build something that makes a request for EVERY page load, you are making adding serious load to the services you attach to.

So, PLEASE add caching, only make requests when users ask to see scripts for the current site, ...

peuh, Stretch, Lazybones: see the updated version that has a little monkey in an upper right DIV.

Great, but I agree the red bar is a bit much... Maybe a little monkey icon or something MUCH less visible.

Stretch User

Great script but I'd really love a version with no invasive red bar at the top of the screen. Something more like the Greasemonkey icon which is lightly highlighted when there are scripts and lightly grayed when there are not for that specific domain. Great work and thanks!

peuh, i'd be glad to change it, can you help me out?

Really nice script, the only thing I can think is maybe making it like a button or a small image cause thats a big red line.
