This script does still seem to do what it's supposed to do, but I haven't checked the auto-download function, but I do sometimes use the script.

I do see the filename before entering the code, it says...
Filename: afile.rar
Filesize: 269.8 MB

under the silly date ads.

It's possible at times it doesn't show, but I'll try to remember to watch for that.
BTW: you don't need Flash installed and you don't need to click the download button after entering the captcha, I just enter the captcha then hit Enter. I don't understand why they add all this extra junk to pages when it isn't needed (DF is really bad, but I figured out how to clean it up too). Anyway, I hope to get around to improving this script.

I love this script. It makes megaupload nicely streamlined. The one request I have is for you to ad a complete filename somewhere on the original load page. After entering the Captcha, I can see it through the download link. When I'm downloading large groups of files that are part12.rar, for example, it would be nice to be able to see the full file name before having to enter the Captcha (and thus save time and transition between mouse and keyboard). Thank you for all you do; it has made my internet experience better (Through this and RS_Bundle).

Hi Descriptor.

Your script worked until a few days ago, but I think Magaupload change its code, so it doesn't work anymore...

P.S. I really like your work I use RS bundle all the time..

You mean the auto-download feature, right?
See Modifying Preferences
Search for MU_Bundle or autoDownload and toggle it to true.
Also you can uninstall the script making sure to check the "Also uninstall associated preferences" box. Then when you install it again it will ask again.

Alan Smith User

so i was really tired when i used this for the first time on my new computer today, and i clicked cancel instead of ok when it asked me if i wanted it to auto create the link.
I uninstalled it and tried again and it didn't prompt me, how do I clear my settings so I can click yes this time?

Do you have Firebug installed?
You can try turning off "Show JavaScript errors" and see if that makes a difference.
I found some bug reports, but I can only guess if they are related at all, and I certainly can't test every add-on.
But like I said, I will try testing this more and add a delay or other patch if necessary.

Descriptor Script's Author

No, it's not MU. Several RS_Bundle users have reported a similar problem, so maybe it has something to do with the browser, it's like Firefox is getting the time wrong.
Still works fine in SeaMonkey.
Try setting autoDownload to false in about:config (maybe I need to explain that above), see it it still causes a problem.
I can try adding a user-defined delay if necessary.

I think MegaUpload may have updated their servers or something as this doesn't seem to automatic the downloaded after the countdown anymore, it just refreshes the link.

Descriptor Script's Author

Right, well they create the ticket at the server, so the link they give you won't work until a certain number of seconds has passed.
If you click too soon and get that page just click the Back button and wait more, the timer should still be running.
Some file servers simply hide the link from you, while others like MU force you to wait. But they used to have this big ad that you had to click on before you could download, and the script removed that.

Kyosama User

Ah,I'm not really saying the full script doesn't work when I click to get the download link without the waiting for the timer is just takes me back to the home page of Megauplaod.

Can you be more specific? I just tried it and the script works. I tried a second download while downloading the first and the script still worked, but obviously the download would fail since MU doesn't allow that for free users. Are you new to this script and expecting it to allow you to do that?
I did notice that when I turned off all scripts I didn't get the big ad like I used to, and that my script seems to remove the file "Download Link" bookmark after a second, which you must already have anyway.
I will rewrite this script eventually, currently I'm busy recovering dead data, but the new version will likely remove everything but the login form and download links, since I'm rather tired of looking at the other junk.
I just looked at ME and it seems to work fine there as well - and it doesn't remove the bookmark link. Removing everything but the forms should ensure the script continues to work, at least until they do a major rewrite, like adding a redirect (or something non-JavaScript).
Also if you are getting another language please let me know so I can test that as well.

Kyosama User

My only Suggestion is to fix the bugs. also It doesn't work anymore I tested it. o.O

Descriptor Script's Author

I think I can do a little better job of cleaning up the page, removing ads.
But a version 2.0 would be a significant change, and I don't know what else I can do. I'm always open to suggestions.

Will there be a V2?

If you are talking about some message that states that there are too many people downloading or that there are no download slots available for your country - well I don't think I've ever seen that so I have no way to test it.
However there is some script in the source code and comments explaining a method that may work.

I don't know if this is the same issue, but I've noticed a few times that if I download a really large file and come back several hours later to try and download another that I will still get a "Limit Exceeded" message from the server (a bad download). If you have any knowledge of a method such as sending a specific cookie - but other than changing your IP - that will get around this, then feel free to share that here.

thatguy User

Unfortunately this script doesn't remove the slot limit.

Update - v1.0

  • Better language support - no longer need to add includes for your language.
  • Better ad blocking - ad ids are now in a list so it's easy to add or modify them.
  • Corrected the problem with the link not being on top.
  • Added more "anti-click-stealing" code.

I consider this script done. I may do some more cosmetic changes, but really, who cares? It does the job.
Time to download more junk.

Descriptor Script's Author

Still working for me, I don't think they've changed.
Make sure you allow cookies, I had them blocked and I was getting an error (unrelated to the script) when I tried in another language, allowing cookies fixed that. They also set the "v" cookie and the script deletes that.
But it isn't removing the friendfinder ad, and also I see some layering problem as I can't click on the file link - the one they give you to copy to a message.
The script seems OK, but I saved the page to look at later, and I'll try again with everything else disabled to make sure, maybe get rid of that friendfinder ad too.

matrixik Scriptwright

Hmmm, I don't know why but for me it isn't working on megarotic. I try to change @include adres but that don't give any changes.

matrixik Scriptwright

Hm, it's look like all pages work good without /pl/.

Descriptor Script's Author

I just noticed they set a cookie named "l" for your language.

Descriptor Script's Author

Dad-blastit

@include http://www.megaupload.com/pl/?d=*
@include http://www.megaupload.com/pl/

Descriptor Script's Author

Ooops...

@include http://www.megaupload.com/pl/?d=*@include http://www.megaupload.com/pl/

don't mess up on me...

Descriptor Script's Author

Thanks for pointing that out, actually though, thats not quite correct... http://www.megaupload.com/* would include everything which makes the next line redundant and is not what I want.

You should just change it to include your language, for example
http://www.megaupload.com/de/?d=*http://www.megaupload.com/de/
or
http://www.megaupload.com/pl/?d=*http://www.megaupload.com/pl/

or you can just use http://www.megaupload.com/* if you want, but I have no idea what effect it might have on other pages.
