This is UnDead, man. Are you the same Utopiah that used to be Bob and joined O$C? From Canada?

Well... say you're looking at a long page. You have the scroll speed at medium and you are looking at the page while it's scrolling. Say you missed something, and you want to scroll back up.... you can't with this. (or you get to the bottom of a page and you want to go back up)

Hi JoeSimmons

Well Im the same Utopiah that used to play Quake3 1vs1/CTF but SoF not really :)

Anyway regarding the script :
1) Retry it but let the pointer inside the input box, do you still have the problem? I supposed that when people pointer stays over it means they are focused on input but if you are using only the keyboard (as I actually tend to do with Vimperator) it can be a problem. Is it because of this?
Also ideally there is no need at all for the shortcuts because the script manages everything itself. You can look at http://userscripts.org/forums/1/topics/2150 to discuss ideas of features going in that direction.
2) Ehhh... a bug I guess, the pause/restart loop is no clean, I will check this out.
3) You are the second person to say so (see the forum page again). I never needed to scroll up but give me an example and I will change this. The script could also scroll down and up indefinitely... once again I don't see the point but it's possible to do that.

This script is way cool, but...
1) The 1 character option buttons are a bad idea. I'm typing this right now and my screen is going all wacky because I keep pressing the option keys while trying to type.
2) After I pause it, the start button doesn't start it back scrolling.
3) It only scrolls down, and if you're only using one hand, you'd like to scroll back up.

Ok so here is the last version with the neat
* auto-pause and disable shortcuts will typing in a textbox/textarea element

So... use it, give me some feedback and I'l try to improve it again!

PS : currently using it with the excellent Vimperator and no problem so far,
just remember to use C^V to issue commands (mapping may change later).

Good news everyone ! (makes me laugh every time ... Futurama should still be on air !!!)

It works like a charm with Firefox 3.0 and actually even works better as the interface (overlay buttons) get scaled when you use Ctrl + and Ctrl -

Upon request I can add :
* per page preference (1 speed per page on which you press a control-key)
* default list of famous website that shouldn't be scrolled
* video/flash detection to disable auto-scrolling by default
* transform to a complete Firefox extension to add easily editable preferences
* average speed per domain (or other interesting statistics for voracious readers)

Ah, figured out that there were options. Never mind my previous comment.

This is neat. What would be better is to show a visual bar (useful if there's a max speed for scrolling), plus making the increments when adjusting scrolling speed larger. Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback but I did it on purpose as it is still so far a test version.
