I had trouble with this too. I modified his script so try this one and see if it works for you.
Strange thing is I think Ars has modified the URL format for their multi page articles just in the last few days. |

I think this script DOES NOT WORK. I tried with lots of articles on ars technica. The article are still displayed in multiple page format.
