@blake: could be that i'm in the uk?, I dunno |
@Valley Boy: This is weird, our pages must be different because I get this line in the source code
<a href="http://mail.google.com/mail/?hl=en&tab=wm" class=gb1>Gmail</a> And the only occurrence is mail is in the url twice and in the string Gmail |
@blake: if you go to google.com homepage and at the top they've changed it from "Gmail" to "Mail" view the source code and search for gmail you should have an error message saying gmail not found, type Mail in the find box click find twice and you should see a P.S. well done finding googlefont.com |
@Valley Boy: Thanks, but where did they change it to just Mail? Are you talking about one of the foreign ones? |
great script blake, when I was looking at your script and Googles homepage source code I saw that google has changed the link from "Gmail" to "Mail", at the end of your script you might need to change "Gmail" to "Mail" just thought I'd mention it to help |

@hanns: First of all, don't get mad if you can't modify it like you want to. The script is not intended to do this and it would make work a lot harder for the end-user if I created this feature. The script does what it is intended to do perfectly. If you do wish to use this you could do page title checks for the I'm Feeling Lucky bit and create a smaller logo with the correct specs. @jollybravo: I don't hink its my script and greasemonkey has been acting a little weird lately. Sorry, but I don't think I can help. Maybe if you post a picture or something I can figure it out. Are you using the english version or another. Some of the translated versions were messed up but I just fixed them. |
I can see same Google standrad page withut any change, I reinstallled it many times
@jollybravo: I am using 3.0.3 and the script is working fine, try reinstalling as you may have messed up something in the script on accident. Are some things working or do you see the standard google page, or something else? Also, if you are only changing the name and initial fields, there won't be any image, it will just be a box. |

Hi Blake I have installed your script and edited it as u mentioned but its not taking effect on my Firefox I have version 3.0.3,the customized code is appearing for my enabled Grease Monkey under manage scripts. but no effect even after restarting the browsing
Is it compatible on FF v3.0.3 |
@JoeSimmons: Haha thanks for pointing that out, good things it doesn't really matter. I'll fix that real quick |

sorry for the delay in replying. the google.com.bn script works like a charm. Thanks. Any clue about how to customise the firefox startup page? |
@vital: I explained below that in order to change the picture, you have to create a picture (google "google font" or something to get a picture) Then you must put it online and paste the url into the script, i will look into getting the script to work in your region Edit: I just wrote you a script theat will work for that page, her is the link http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/30005 |

Thanks for the cool tips, I am a newbie who knows little about scripting, html etc. At first sight I thought this script will insert my name instead of the google pic on the top of the page similar to the "Blake" example you have shown but i was dissapointed when only the text google is replaced, it took me a little more browsing and I found what I wanted at http://googlemyway.com/ but of course the url changes and it is a good replacement for people who dont want to fool around with scripting or modify the original site I have installed your script but am unable to make it work at my region, google.com.bn eventhough i followed your advise and added it to the list of pages, any suggestion? thx |

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you on this, I was at camp. Please read the previous comments as this question has been asked before. As I had said,"First, make sure you have firefox with the greasemonkey extension installed. Then click the install script button on this page and let it install. Right click the monkey icon in the lower right corner of your screen and choose "Manage User Scripts". Select customizeGoogle in the pane on the left. Click the edit button. If this is your first time editing a script, you will see a browse box. Navigate to c:\windows\notepad.exe and press ok." Thanks for trying out my script and if you find anything else confusing please ask. |
how do you edit the source? |
@dbruggmann: Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, but here is the link to my newest translation of customizeGoogle http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/29379 This one works with your home page, google.ch |
For me, the script doesn't work with google.ch – any idea why? |
@asiangirlphoto: Thanks, I'm having fun doing it. |
